It is perfectly fine the way you did it. It came through complete the first
and third times. It looks like the second try was interrupted.
There is no need to compress an mpeg2 file--it is already compressed as much
as possible. (Same for most other image and video formats).
If you want to break it into smaller parts, QuickPar is better because it
will also auto-repair damaged/missing parts.

Even though compression isn't usually important, .zip or .rar files are
useful for when you want to post multiple files and maintain a file
structure, or just want to hide the filenames. I prefer .zip files because
most computers have support for them without installing other software.

For your safety, you might want to get a different account to post from, not
readily traceable to you. e.g. buy a small unexpiring block account using a

group, limited to stock on hand.)
