Stephen's Secure Blog #161
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 15 in this story, after Winter holidays, of year 6 of his
special school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #161 "Birthday for Rose"
START Page
We gave Rose a big birthday party at her parent's house. Most of the
Earth school was there. For presents, we all decided on funny things,
because she could make whatever she wanted to. I gave her something
really different; a diamond globe, filled half with water. Like the
light sculptures, the action could be set to be off, change randomly,
or repeat, by touch. The action was little children made of the water,
on the surface of the water, running, wrestling, and playing. It had
some light effects, too. I said "Touch and hold the globe." She did,
and the children stopped playing, and grinned and waved at her. She did
a good job of laughing and saying wow at the same time. The guests were
amazed. Hawk kept grinning his face almost in half.
After the party, the school kids had a pool party at my house on
Misnok. After we went into the bubble area, I played some full size
water sculpture people for them. Then we had a wild time in sexplay,
which also opened up Cress's third eye all the way. We all
congratulated her. That was almost too much for her, with her first
pool party. She was extremely happy. After the guests were all gone, it
was just Hawk, Rose, and me. We slept well, with love. We didn't do
real sex like we had planned, because it was the wrong time of the
month for her.
In the morning, I got a call from the Misnok museum, asking if I had
any more things for them. I said "No, I don't, and I don't plan to." He
said "That's very disappointing. May I ask why?" I said "It would be
better if I showed you why. Are you available this evening, for an
offplanet trip?" He said "Via teleporting, yes." We made the date. Hawk
said, "Isn't that going to be a little cruel?" I said "Maybe, but
people need to learn. I don't plan to say much. You can if you want
to." We met him in his office. I said "Remember I said I would offer
the archive museum to Posintan, if you didn't want to build it?" He
said "Yes, and thank you very much for the honor." I said "Now we go
traveling." I ported us to the newly completed Archive Museum on
Posintan. He looked surprised, when he recognized what it was. He said
"This is well done! But I'm puzzled why it was built, when we have it
on Misnok." Hawk said "But you don't. Stephen wanted a separate
building. That's not what happened on Misnok, so he offered it to
Posintan." Rose said "They know him better than any who are not like
us. That means they know better than to not do exactly what he wanted.
They didn't want to lose him."
The museum director sat on a nearby bench, and said in dejection, "I
made a mistake." Hawk said "The first was in not asking him why he
wanted a separate building, before deciding not to do it." Rose said
"Stephen is a psychologist and therapist. He had a special reason for
choosing your planet, and for it being a separate building." He said
reminder against arrogance. Nothing lasts. We all go. A separate
building would be that, much better than an extra room in a big museum.
It was something my people needed, and I had the arrogance to make my
decision without knowing all the reasons for it, and against the wise
wishes of somebody greater than all. I should have known better, and I
failed my people." Hawk said to me, "I don't think we should show him
the rest." Rose said "I don't know. He might like it." Hawk said
"Maybe." I said "Now that you have obviously aroused his curiosity, it
would be cruel not to satisfy it." The director looked up with a slight
smile, and said, "True."
We ported to the center of Guardhome. He recognized the buildings,
and said so, with a lot of wows. I said "I was building a large sports
complex for the school, and then another house for me, and then I
decided to build a city, as a kind of big art project. After doing all
that translating, I knew a lot about these buildings, so I made them.
This city is fully functional and automated, with my advanced
technology. Here, put on this guide. Think at it, and it does it. Tell
it to transport you to the central city observation tower." He
vanished. We ported there, to hear him say "Wow!" Hawk grinned and
said, "We hear that a lot, specially here." The director said, "So this
is what a city of the future can be like." I said "It's just a project.
I could have built it entirely out of forcefields a lot faster. THAT
would be a real city of the future. I'll port us to the sports
complex." I did, and he had more wows for the art.
I had timed it so that Zander's students would be just finishing
their sports activities for the day. They came out and greeted us. I
explained to the director, "My aura and life sign are so bright to
their senses, they felt me arrive here, and so here they are to greet
us." He saw how happy they were to see me, and what happened with the
hugging. He couldn't help feeling their love. Hawk told him, "These
are, and will be, the most powerful and intelligent beings in the
galaxy, and they love Stephen more than anything. They would do
anything he asked, in a second, because they know he would be right."
Rose said "When you give love, you receive more in return, and Stephen
has more love to give, than all the galaxy put together." I said "Rose,
I'm not so sure about that." She said "Well, I am." The kids laughed,
while I hugged her.
I contacted Splidnt and Ginging, and suggested something. They
grinned and agreed. They went to the director, and offered to hug him.
They did, in turn, and he was amazed. Hawk grinned and said, "You
should feel that without clothes." He said "If I imagine that, the
evidence will be obvious." Hawk said "For us, and them, it already is."
He said "Oh." Hawk laughed.
The next day, I asked the auction appraiser for a meeting. I ported
him alone to my house. Rose and Hawk were there with me, naturally. I
said, "How popular would green diamonds be?" He said "Very. Almost as
much as blue, and better than red." I said "From the same dead planet.
Have a look." He did, and had a lot of wows to say, which the yellows
and oranges encouraged, too. I said "All are my custom cuts. I do more
than the other cutters do, because I calculate angles and facets based
on precise measurements of what the individual stone does with light,
in different environments. That can be very complicated with diamond,
because of its high refractive index and strong optical dispersion,
affected by the orientation of the cutting, and flaws and impurities."
He said "I had noticed your stones look better than that of other
cutters. More brilliant. Some have speculated that they are artificial,
but all tests show they are natural." I said "I can make artificial
stones even better, but I just don't feel like it. Here are some other
colored stones. I like the different shades of blue. I have another
stone I'm not sure I should offer. It might be too big to sell."
He grinned and said, "Are you asking me to beg?" I laughed and said,
"No, but I didn't know if you wanted to see a stone you might not get."
He said "I do!" I showed it to him. It was of the best grade of white,
and flawless, and weighed over a kilo, in a special brilliant cut. I
told him all that while he was looking at it, and then had to repeat it
when he was able to pay attention to words. I said "Who would want
something like that? It sure can't be worn as jewelry. Not even as part
of strength training." He laughed. He said "There are rich people who
will collect anything." I said "I don't want to meet such greedy fools.
I'll take their money and do something useful with it, if they keep
their distance." He said "I understand. You could donate it to the
museum." I said "They already have enough, and I don't have the time or
inclination to build a rapport with another one at this time." He said
"I would want it for auction, but I can't estimate the price it would
bring." I said "These things don't all have to be in the same auction.
There might not be any more from the dead world, so these can be spaced
out over time, if you think that is advisable." He agreed.
Then I said, "Now on to a different subject. You. Your mental
abilities can be improved with training. You said you were interested
in that. Are you still?" He said "Yes, I am." I said "You will be
changed. You won't be the same person. You will want to use your
abilities, which in your current life you really can't. Your new life
might not include your current occupation." He said "I hadn't thought
about that." I said "I can't predict who you will be then, because I
can't predict how your talents will improve, and what new ones might
develop, but I can say that you will need to keep them secret from most
people, and you already know why, and might not like doing that. I know
I don't." He said "That I understand. You have given me much to think
about. Would delaying the training, reduce my potential for
improvement?" I said "That would depend on how long the delay. A few
years won't make much of a difference, and your talents will always
have the same potential. What would be different is in your control of
them, which depends on mental control, and that requires flexibility
and concentration to learn, which is reduced by age. The younger the
better with that. We start at ten years old, or species equivalent, for
the best results." He said "So I can wait a few years, without losing
anything significant?" I said "Yes, if you keep your mind agile." He
said "Then I'll do that. Thank you very much for all you have done." I
said "You're welcome. Want to carry the stones with you?" He grinned
and said, "With my love for them, I can't resist the offer." I grinned
and said, "I thought so. Here is the list." I wrapped them up and
handed them over. Then I hugged him with love. He reacted as usual. I
ported him back to his empty office.
Rose said "The last time?" I said "Probably. There is enough money
for the schools, or will be. Now I have a problem. What am I going to
do? I can't teach anymore, at least not in the schools. I'm too
popular, and my aura is too distracting to them. I can make more art,
but it's the inspiration I receive from showing it to people which
fuels my creativity. I can't compete in sports now, not even in
Spaceball. I can't lose. I can't live on pool parties." Hawk said,
"Yes. Wrinkled skin." Rose said "And strained prostate." I had to smile
They got the message. We had our own pool party, which was great.
