Stephen's Secure Blog #135
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 15 in this story, in late Winter of year 5 of his special
school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #135 "Home Invitation"

The curator and the appraiser arrived at my home on Misnok, and I
escorted them inside. I said "This is a copy of my house on another
planet. I chose to do it that way because I'm used to it, and am
unlikely to get lost in it." Short laughs. The curator said "You bought
the land two days ago, and your house is finished already. I would say
that is a little unusual." I grinned and said, "So would I. I built the
other house with programed forcefields. I didn't delete the program.
Speed of construction is therefore limited by environmental conditions,
usually air resistance. I didn't want to create a cyclone, so it took
15 minutes to clear the land and build the house. Perhaps I should
mention that I'm a scholar of many academic disciplines, and teach
advanced physics. And psychology. And martial arts." The curator said
"Wow!" The appraiser said "I have a feeling that crystals were involved
in this." I said "Yes. My computers are dependent on them." He said "I
had thought I was joking." I grinned and said "Yes. Do it some more,
and the joke just might be on you." He laughed. I said "All the art
here is mine." They liked the mosaic in the bathroom. I explained about
the blue light cleaner and demonstrated it. I said "Yes, it's
controlled by crystals. Just in case you were going to ask." They
grinned. Then we went into the basement, and I showed them the gym, and
then the pool. They loved the crystal mosaics in the walls, ceiling,
floor, and lining the pool. I said "Sometimes my friends and I relax
here, and sometimes what we do is FAR from relaxing, in an advanced
social way, which is why the soft area of the floor is so large."
Then we went to the galleries. I said "Some of the sculptures are of
manufactured materials, such as diamond and other crystalline gems.
Some of the gems are of my own formulation, which I would be very
both said "Forcefields!" I said "With a bit of practice, you could
start a chorus." They laughed. I said "You even laugh together." They
did it again. I said "Everything is available for acquisition. Direct
sale would have to go through an agent. I have tortured you long
enough. Here is the blue diamond." There were other blue diamonds I had
made from the original stone, in doing the cutting, making a nice
display. There were other almost as spectacular gems on display with
it, including diamonds and sapphires of all colors, and emeralds. Some
were carved. I stood aside and watched them caress everything with
their eyes. I said "Feel free to fondle, er, examine them." They had to
laugh. They did pick some up and examine some, and with loops,
microscopes, and lights, and other instruments I had there. I said "Is
there going to be a problem by my not revealing the sources of the
stones?" The appraiser said, "Probably. Even some accusations of theft.
Our insurance will cover that." I said "My mines are in unoccupied
systems scattered throughout the galaxy. I er, design spaceships, too,
and scanning methods, which are er, very nice." He said "I had assumed
that, from your last personal revelations." I said "Of course, that is
confidential." He said "Naturally."
I said "There is something I should tell you. I'm going to be in the
news soon. Probably in a week or two. VERY BIG news. The planet I'm
from is significant to that." He said, "Let me guess. The one we are
originally from." I said "Did you think you were joking again?" His jaw
dropped open, and he stared at me. I nodded, and he said, "Oh my God!"
I said "I've been hearing that a lot. Like from your President this
morning." The curator said "Oh! Meetings. I see." I nodded again. I
said "I got here faster than the Confed ship which is returning from my
planet with the news, to prepare the way, because the Confed is likely
to handle it in a way which would be contrary to the will of the
people." They both nodded at that. I said "I will join the ship and
arrive in it, and be the diplomatic representative of the three major
planets of the Galactic Council, which is also not to be trusted to do
the right thing." The curator said, "To be expected. It's obvious you
are much more than an artist. Well, and all the other things you
listed, too." I said "I do keep busy, and I have associates who help.
I'm giving you advance notice, because these things may have some
impact on what you might want to do regarding my things for auction,
and what should be on display of my work in the museum, to capitalize
on the publicity for your own enterprises. Would you like to sit down?"
They nodded, and I ported some chairs into place behind them, which I
I said "There is something I should get out of the way, first. I do
not lie. I can't. I was raised with people who can instantly detect
the slightest lie, and I have the same ability. Also, the forcefields I
work with are fully mentally controlled, which requires years of
training in mental control, beginning in childhood, to operate with any
degree of safety. My mind is so highly trained and tuned, if I did lie,
I would be damaged, and using my technology would kill me. I am not
finished with my life just yet. Not that I would even want to lie. It
just isn't part of me." The curator said "I suspected some of that." I
looked at the appraiser, who glanced at the curator. I nodded. He said
"I knew you weren't lying. I have that ability, too." I said "And more,
as you have already demonstrated. But we can discuss that later. So,
what do we do next?" He went right to business, and said, "I want to
choose now. Then you will provide the descriptions. Then you give me
the selection, and I will have them recorded for release. I will have
our publicity consultants start the ads as soon as they have the
information, for here, and by message relay to the other major planets.
We won't mention your connection to the news event until you authorize
it. I somehow am certain you will be able to communicate with anybody
you want to, any time you want to, with or without the permission of
anybody else." I said "I like it you are trusting yourself in this." He
said "You do, so the inspiration is there." I said "Pick what you want
now. Then we will have our friend here argue with you about it. After
the dust settles, and you settle your differences, remembering that I
favor the greater good, which is the museum, I'll give you the list,
and you can take everything with you. I assume you don't want to waste
any time. We won't worry about trust. I can guarantee that any which go
missing, will be right back where they were before that, almost
immediately." He grinned and said, "Like these chairs." I said "But
prettier." He said "Much!" I said "One more thing. I don't need money
for myself. I'm doing this to support my objectives. The peaceful
joining of two star associations, and support for my schools I
establish on different worlds to train gifted students to use their
full potential." They both nodded agreement.
The appraiser chose most of the loose stones, and a few in settings,
leaving one medium size blue diamond for the museum the curator wanted.
I pulled a plastic writing sheet from a previously empty drawer, and
gave him the list of things he had selected. They laughed. Then he said
"I want some of your large sculptures. This thing you called the tiger
and the dear. Tell me about it." I said "It is of created diamond. The
different colors are caused by the same conditions which occur in
nature on my planet, programmed into place to make one solid block
before carving. It is a representational carving of a natural scene.
Some tigers hunt people, too. Those are the actual colors in real life.
It is all from one block, with nothing added. If you want it, I can
make miniatures of it in quartz, for sale by the museum, if desired. I
have done similar things in another museum. Actually, it would he a
sister museum, being on the planet which hosts the GC." He said "We
could discuss that later. I would like to offer that one, and two
others." He pointed to them. I said "The tiger is very heavy. It would
require the two of you to cary it. Or, I could er, transport it my way,
to any location you wish, when you wish it." He said "More forcefields,
I assume." I said "Yes. I will demonstrate something of that." I
grabbed it with a 4th hand and lifted it up in the air, made it
invisible, and then visible, and put it back down. I said "They don't
have to be visible, and can make what they surround, partially
invisible." He said "I expected that, so you don't get a wow." We
laughed.
I asked the curator, "Anything you want to purchase or have on loan
for the triple event?" He said "I expect to get the approval of my
director. You already know about the blue diamond. I can do that on my
own. 65,000 sound alright?" I asked the appraiser, and he said "About
what it would bring at single auction." I said "I'll take 50,000, and
tell your director what you offered, and what the appraisal was, that I
knew about." He gave me an awed grin, and said, "Thank you. That was a
real neat maneuver to make me look good. Thank you very much." I said
"It really is my pleasure. What else?" He selected some paintings for
loan. He said "On loan, but with silent auction with secret minimums,
bidders are informed of being outbid, settled at the end of the loan.
How is that?" I said in admiration, "You're not too bad with the
maneuvers, yourself. I like it! Set a reasonable commission, and
announce that it goes to support the museum." He grinned. I said "I
can't help it that I absolutely LOVE museums." He said "I don't doubt
that." I said "Want to take them now, or have them delivered?" He said
"Whichever is safer." I said "They will be in your office just before
you enter the door to it." The appraiser said "For the sculptures, I'll
go that way, too." I said "It would help if I knew where. The address
and room number?" He gave it to me, and I projected a picture, and
said, "Is this it?" He said "Yes! More forcefields?" I said "Yes,
actually." He said "You invented this technology."
I said "Ready for a shock?" They nodded. I said "I invented it in my
last incarnation, and so far, I'm the only one who fully understands
the math which describes it." He said "Wow!" I grinned. He said to the
curator, "You already knew." The curator said, "About incarnations,
yes. Not about his inventions." I said to the appraiser, "I think you
should wait on the intuition you are having." He said "It already
arrived, and I can see he knows." I said "When you have some training,
you're going to be REALLY good!" He said "You will provide?" I said "I
can arrange for it. One or more of my students, probably. That brings
us to something else. The rings, belt, and wrist com and computer, I'm
wearing. My students wear them, too. If I don't survive this coming
action, or any other action, they will carry on for me and speak for
me." They both understood. I said "If it happens, don't be sad. I
expect my next existence to be even more interesting than this one. If
my death will accomplish something good, which has happened in the
past, I will do it with a happy will. Anyway, I don't expect it to
happen in the near future, but it doesn't hurt too much to be prepared.
I'll wrap up the gems." I did that. and handed the appraiser the
package. I said "When you write up the contract, let me know, both of
you. I'm not asking for it first, because when I trust, it's all the
way."
We walked to the front door, and into the cool night. I hugged each
in turn with love, and they reacted like people usually do. As they
were getting into their ground car, I said, "Please be careful on the
way back. The road isn't lit very well. I'll be watching, for safety."
They thanked me, and drove off. Rose ported in, to stand with me, and
the car swerved a little, and she laughed. Hawk ported in to stand on
the other side of me, and laughed, too.
