Stephen's Secure Blog #126
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 14 in this story, during the Winter holidays of year 5 of
his special school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #126 "Posintan Guardian"

I said to the Posintan Guardian, "Is it customary for this world's
Guardians not to reveal their personal names to their friends?" She
said "I apologize for the omission. It isn't our practice. To my
friends such as yourselves, I am Pashit. Thank you for inviting me to
meet with you here. You can teleport!" I said "Well, we already knew
that." She laughed, and we grinned. She said "Did you learn it from the
Van?" I said "If we had, I would have spoken about that differently. We
had already invented that technology before we knew the Van had their
matter gates. But we do know how it works, and have the complete math
for it, so we can do it much better. We allowed you to know we could,
because being who you are, you should. You would find out soon enough,
when you compare our times of transportation with reality, so we are
doing the polite thing with you in advance." She said "I appreciate
that. You have students of our species. Why didn't you choose them from
our Guardians?" I said "Prepare for disappointment?" She said "I see.
We are at or near our limits for improvement. You chose younger
candidates with high potential." I said "Yes. Even with them, they
weren't young enough to help them to be fully equal to us. To do that,
would require the student start while still a child. Those we teach
now, when they are ready, will start schools of their own here, and
someday you will have Guardians who are our equals or better. Psionic
talent isn't enough. There needs to be an extensive academic education
and a very high degree of mental control. We train VERY hard for that,
so we don't kill ourselves and others, with our fully mentally
controlled technology."
Rose said, "For example, this ring. See the light it emits? When we
wish it, it emits a laser which is powerful enough to cut through 4cm
of metal." She said "I see. One stray thought, and instant death. And
your dreams, wow! Your control even extends to that!" I said "Yes. I
found out that the hard way, and scared some people almost out of their
skins." She laughed. I said "Well, we don't wear clothes in our homes,
so they couldn't jump out of them then. What happened wasn't with
lasers and not dangerous, but completely out of their experience." She
said "So the ring is a weapon." I said "With us, being masters of
martial arts, everything can be a weapon, but our tools weren't made to
be that, but aids in exploring and mining. I like gems to sculpt with.
None of our tools have ever been used as a weapon by us." She said "But
you have fought with and defeated people in real combat." I said "Yes.
But not to injure if at all possible, and never to kill. In my previous
life, when I invented the ring, I defeated Adepts of the Dark Path. The
first was brain damaged when I disabled his psionic abilities, while he
was caving in my chest. The second was killed by her rival, after I
made her powerless. The third killed himself later, rather than face
who he had become. The last one was the most dangerous, and was out to
take over the planet. We had fought many times in many past
incarnations which he remembered and I didn't then. He almost fried me
to a crisp, and did other bad things to me, while I was managing to
wrench his spirit out of his body and stuff it into a sealed and
insulated container, where he continues to exist in absolute sensory
isolation, to prevent him from reincarnating." She said "Wow!"
I said "We are more skilled now, and don't have to be so violent in
our necessary actions. Would you like to see the last real fight I was
in?" Before she could answer, Rose said "We would call that one of his
most notorious stupid questions." She laughed, and Rose projected it
for her, and said, "Only martial abilities were used, and for the
purpose of gaining a student of one who witnessed it." Pashit said,
"The disarming. I've heard of that, but never seen it in action." Rose
said "Stephen is so strong, he had to be very careful not to blow the
wall across the street and into another building. The student he
recruited then, is able to do that enough to disarm, now, and she has
the first ring, and should be ready for the second." At the look of
interest, I said, "Tractor and pressor beams." She said "And the belt?"
I said "First level, levitation and invisibility. These things we wear
on missions are also for identification. They and their functions can't
be duplicated by other science, and they are keyed to the individual,
so nobody else can use them."
Pashit said "When our people who are your students return, will they
want to take over the Guardianship?" I said "I don't know. We haven't
discussed it with them, and we won't. We don't tell our students what
to do with that kind of thing. We don't have the right to tell you and
your species how to govern itself. We give them ethical training as
part of the course. We trust that to guide them well. Among us, the
most able is the leader. But that is not the complete concept. I lead
because I do. I don't do it all the time, because that's not needed.
They follow my lead when they should, because they know they should, to
make things work out to their best. For most of our routine functions
and work, my friend Ichi, who is second to me in ability, is the
leader, because I can't and don't want to do all the work myself. And I
don't have time. I didn't and don't tell him that. He just knows. Rose
is often with me on these offworld contact missions because she has the
best emotion sense, and is in training to be a situation manager, and
because it's policy to have our people in action situations to be
monitored for the record and for possible assistance. All other times
we are all equals in friendship and love." She said "I was going to ask
about that. You look like you are mates." I said "All of us would look
like that to those who are not of us. Most so if they saw our group
sexual activities. We can share our feelings and sensory inputs among
us, and multiply them. The more people in the group, and the more
varied of them, makes for very er, interesting times. Oh, and we don't
discriminate with other species." With all three eyes almost popping
out of her head, she said "Wow!" I said "But then, I don't expect I'll
be given the choice of who will bear my first child." Rose said very
confidently, "No, you won't." Pashit laughed.
I said "Love is required for full advancement to our level of
ability. Real, full, unrestricted love, frees the mind and spirt of
things which hold a person back. You cannot be ALL of you, until you
can GIVE all of you to others. Our other species students discovered
this, even before their teacher who runs that school for us, did. Let
me show you what it means. Please stand." She did, and I hugged her
with all my love. Rose helped her to sit down again. After a while,
Rose said, "Stephen doesn't just teach things. He lives what he
teaches, and teaches us with his life and love." Pashit wiped her eyes
with her middle hand, and said, "You won't get an argument about that
from ME!"
I said "Would you like to meet one of our new students who is known
to her world's Guardians in the Confed?" She said "Ah! The stupid
question idea still lives!" I laughed. I said "Rose, would you like to
give her their language?" She nodded, and they went through the
procedure, which was a success. Pashit said in the Confed language, "I
see what you mean by education! And mental control. What you must know
by now by your methods must be vast beyond my imagining!" I said, "No
matter how much, there is always much more to learn. Grace, who is
handling the teaching at this time, is ready to port them here. Oh yes,
we don't really need spaceships. Ready for more friends?" She was, so
they ported in. Grace had already briefed Angrala on the situation. We
did the introductions. Angrala said "Has he hugged you yet?" Pashit
said "A few moments ago. I'm still partially in shock." They grinned at
each other. There was a lively conversation, but I stayed out of it and
just watched. As an aside, I contacted Grace, said said, +What do you
think, when you think the time is right, bring Angrala to visit
Zander's group?+ She said "I think good idea. Will do.+
After a while, Pashit, who had of course noticed my silence, said to
me, "This could be the start of a Council of Guardians." I grinned
really wide, and she laughed. She said "I should have known this is
what you planned from long ago." I said "In my last incarnation. There
is still much more work to do before it can become a reality." She said
"And you will be the first leader of it." I said "No." She knew, from
Rose's reaction, not to go further with that. There was more
discussion, and real friendships were formed. Then Grace and Angrala
ported back, and Pashit was set to leave. She said, "This wasn't
anything like I expected. I'm much more impressed, and in different
ways, than I though could be possible. I have come to love you and your
people. I can't thank you enough for your love, and the opportunity to
experience it." Instead of talking, we did a group hug, with our love
flowing all around us.
