Stephen's Secure Blog #124
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 14 in this story, in the early Winter of year 5 of his
special school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #124 "Full Meeting"

I called her office, and asked if I could see the Ambassador of
Posintan to Zichesshich. We made an appointment, and I went there. I
was sent in to her office without ceremony, and greeted very warmly by
the Ambassador. "Stephen, I'm SO glad to meet you. It's quite a
reputation you have on our planet. I've seen your competitions, enjoyed
them immensely." I grinned and said, "From my small point of view, all
about your people is immense." She laughed very well. She said "What
can I do for you?" I said "It's what you can do for your planet and the
GC, is what I'm concerned with. I know and love the people of three GC
planets, but yours was the only one I wasn't criminally attacked at
times. So, I'm seeing you first." She said "I think I might be
honored." I said "I like your humor. To start, I need to ask you some
questions. Is that alright with you?" She grinned and said "Keep
score?" I grinned back, "Might need to. How would you score the GC
assembly in making wise very important decisions?" She said "Your news
is that big?" I said "Yes." She said "Practically guaranteed to make
the wrong decision, long after it will be useless." I said "What are
the three most influential planets in the GC, economically,
politically, and maybe culturally?" She said "Zichesshich, Tsuriss, and
Posintan." I said "Do think it's a coincidence that I'm a citizen of
only those worlds in the GC, and have my art in their main museums?"
She said "You do not work on coincidence."
I said "So, tell me why those conditions exist." She said "I'm liking
this more and more. You planed to be involved in major political
things, and wanted to be known as who you are, which we think is very
good, by the way, and respected in many ways, before that, so you would
have credence and a base of support. You do have it with us." I said
"Thank you for your flattering opinion of me, but more, thank you for
being so intelligent. It's so rare in positions like yours." She
laughed very well. I said "My other supporters here on this planet are
the Ambassador from Tsuriss, who took a lot of work to finally convince
her she couldn't manipulate me, although it was er, hard to resist her
sexual advances." She burst out laughing. I said "Please keep that from
her. She has claws. I made the mistake of inviting her fellow GC member
to the first meeting. I had to have her removed from the position. She
tried to attack me in a psychotic break, and then tried to harm herself
when she couldn't. Anyway, my other supporter here is the President of
this world. They both hold the same opinion of the GC. Originally, I
wanted this support system for something I was working on, and
finishing in a few years. Now something unexpected has happened which
will cause that action to be completed in about thirty days, to start
working on a much more serious problem, which may be the most serious
the entire GC will face in its existence. That is, if it continues to
exist. I am working, very delicately, to help all concerned to stay
what I mean, I need to ask the planets directly for help and guidance
in this matter. I and my people can handle it ourselves. If we are
allowed to do so. That is what I might need help with."
She said "I respect your competence, and that you don't lie. That you
are carefully speaking around the subject, tells me you want to
disclose what you want us to hear in a group setting." I grinned and
said, "I love it when people do my thinking for me. I'll give you a
little taste, to be fair. There are no Van in any inhabited system but
their own, and never will be again. We are finishing that up ahead of
schedule, to work on the much bigger issue." She said "Wow!" I said "We
hear that a lot." She almost strangled. She said "You can count on my
assistance, for whatever it is worth." I said "Do you think I should
also discuss this with your planet's leader?" She said "He's a good
man. It wouldn't hurt. I could give you a letter of introduction, but
that's one thing you definitely do NOT need." I said "Oh. I remember
you people like to embarrass me." She said with a really big grin,
"It's the only way we can beat you." I laughed. I said "How about I
record the meeting, and play it to him?" She said "Good idea. Would the
others agree?" I said "They know they don't have a choice with me. We
can record our memories for playback, and I have total recall. My
people have other special abilities as well, but we do NOT use them in
competition." She said "I didn't doubt either of those statements. You
might not know this, but all you contacted on our world reported on you
in a good way, by choice, and our officials analyzed all your
competitions. Not to find fault, but to learn. We know you couldn't
have won the second game of Stumak on knowledge and skill. You won it
on psychology, and we reasoned out why you chose to do it, by ALL the
observed results. That's why you were given special status. You, by
being who you are, lift us up, and what we gave you is hardly enough
laughed.
I said "I wish I had visited you sooner. I like you a lot, but might
a little more, with less of the embarrassing things." She laughed. I
said "You don't know! It's going to get much worse for me, when I brief
my people on this this meeting. They love embarrassing me, too!" She
laughed really hard. I sighed and said, "People are so cruel." She
laughed some more, and I couldn't keep from smiling at that. I said "I
might have a little problem visiting your President, based on what
you've told me today. It needs to be in secret. How can that be done,
with me being so er, notorious now? The last few times I said who I was
to orbital control, the whole station knew all about it immediately,
and were planning bets on my possible competitions." She laughed. Then
she said "Pardon me for laughing about this serious matter, but that's
partly due to your friendly way of speaking, that you are so popular
with them. You treat them as friends, and not as busybody public
servants. They love you for it." I said "It never ends with you, does
it." She tried to keep from laughing, but couldn't, after seeing my
obvious interest in her effort. She said "I love your humor. I'll give
you a diplomatic code that should transfer you to a security manager."
I grinned and said, "I was hoping you could do something like that."
She said "Actually, so was I." I laughed.
I stood and said, "I should be going to see the Tsuriss temptress, I
mean Ambassador, now." She laughed. I said "The President will call you
to arrange for the meeting, after I tell him he's going to host it."
She said "Tell him?" I said "I treat all people the same, whether they
are lowly public servants high in orbit, or heads of state. Their jobs
don't make them any more or less than any other people, who all exist
to love and be loved." She said "I should do some thinking about that."
I said with a grin, "Anyway, do you think he would EVER even THINK of
passing up the opportunity to host such an important meeting?" She
grinned back, and said, "Not a chance!" I said "Before I go, there is
something I would give you of me." I held out my arms, and she
understood. I left her in the usual awed daze, and outside the
building, I called Hoechess. She was in her office, and agreed to see
me. I told her after the usual polite greetings, "There is a GC wide
situation which will be developing. By chance, it came to my people
first. It's causing trouble with our timetable for action against the
Van, but that's not important now. I'm working to keep the entire group
of worlds in the GC from what they would consider to be a disaster. I
will handle the problem, and do it well, if the Council doesn't
interfere. We are going to have a meeting to learn about this
situation, with you, the Ambassador from Posintan, and Hissssner,
representing the three most influential worlds of the GC, where I also
have citizenship and things in museums." She said "Which I see wasn't
an accident. I don't think you would have exposed that if it were not a
very serious situation. At Hissssner's home?" I said "Probably, when I
tell him to host the meeting." She said "All maneuvering aside, you can
count on me." I said very seriously, "I knew that." Before I left, we
hugged with love.
I ported to my house when I could, and called Zander, and said,
"Serious important meeting at my house, before we tell Hissssner
something big. When will you be available?" He said "Now. I'll use the
gate." He came out of my new Port-All room, and sat with me in the
living room. I gave him a full briefing. He said "So they are more
rigidly structured than we are, and more aggressive. A disaster in the
making for us. I know you won't allow war, but stopping it would be bad
for all, exposing what you can do to the public." I said "Right. That's
why we will have the Van problem completely settled before I meet with
their bosses, and I will use that world's blockade as an implied
threat. It should work on multiple levels, because they are the best
choice of hosts for the Van, and we are saving their lives for them for
er, free. Convincing them of that is another matter. We'll just have to
see how it plays out. That's why I'm going there soon to play with
their Guardians, and tell their contacts in government what's going to
be happening. On the total situation, I think both groups can be a
positive influence on each other. With their drive, and your
comparative serenity." He said "That could be, but it would not happen
overnight." I said "But it could happen faster than you might think.
Now we need to have Hissssner schedule the meeting." He called the
President, and after the expected odd conversation, the meeting was
scheduled for the next day. Zander went back to the school, and Hassan
came to spend the night with me, which was very nice of him, and not
just very nice squirting.
I gave a full presentation, with pictures and movies, with Rose
monitoring to put in a crystal, and in memory cards, for later. It took
four hours. They all agreed with my assessment of the danger, and the
consensus was that the GC could not, and and should not even try to
handle the situation. They could only make it worse. Because there were
no other options available, they would follow my lead. Then I said,
"All of you know I have been out among the GC worlds for a purpose
which was probably political. Now you know what it is. This is our
purpose. To prevent and stop interstellar physical aggression. We see
that it is not being done. We are working on worlds the GC doesn't know
about, to limit and reverse current active interstellar wars, and
similar activities, but in a way they don't know is happening. Why we
are doing it is very simple. We can. Therefore duty tells us we must.
We don't practice favoritism. We want and will work towards what is
best for ALL, and not just for one side or the other. There will be
some unrest and suffering. That happens with change. We will try to
minimize that as much as possible, without causing more damage by
exposing who we really are to the public. I'll be telling the President
of Posintan all this. Should this be duplicated in some way to a
trusted person in power on Tsuriss?" Hoechess said "I know you will do
your best, and you are our best hope for success, and not just because
you are the only one we see. We will suffer your fairness in good
humor, I hope." She grinned, and said to the Posintan, "We wouldn't
want to be shamed by your people in that." She grinned back. Hoechess
said to me, "In brutal honesty, there is nobody I would trust with
this, other than Surrhaa, and she is serving aboard a starship." I said
very seriously, "I'm sorry." She grimaced and said, "I think not as
much as I am." I nodded.
I said to Hissssner, "One more thing. I'm going to tell all this to
Gikkal." He yelled "You can't do that! Are you crazy? That pushy
reporter will ruin everything!" I said "Thank you for your diagnosis,
but there is something extra you should know. He's mine." He said in
shocked surprised, "One of your students?" I said "No, but a dedicated
to his world, supporter of my work, like you all are. He's a good
person who tries to do right for his people, and knows I do the same
for all. He will do what I say about it, because he will know it's the
right thing to do." A very thoughtful Hissssner said, "I see. He could
be a very good asset in this. Maybe even critical. Oh! You cultivated
him, like you did us, for situations like this, didn't you." I said "As
a good Situation Manager should." Zander said, "We ALL underestimate
him, practically all the time, even those who have known him all his
life, and before that. Maybe we should form a club." They laughed, and
I gave them all my love.
