Stephen's Secure Blog #108
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 14 in this story, in the Summer, after the end of year 4 of
his special school.

I decided to visit the Smithsonian again. First I went to see if my
egg was on display. It was, and with the box. Then I went to The Castle
admin building to see the Director, Sharon. She was in, and agreed to
see me. I said "I'm alone now, because you know enough about me not to
be bothered about that." She smiled and said, "I think so. But a little
more. I checked. I couldn't find a museum which has the emerald crystal
you described." I said "I'm not surprised. One thing you should know,
I said "On trees." She laughed, and said, "I deserved that." I said
"Not really. You already suspect what I can't tell you. I will tell you
this. It is to help create good will, which will eventually benefit all
of us." She said "Wow!" I said "I agree." She said "Do you know when?"
I said "No. Too many known and unknown variables, but there is constant
progress on that front. On the home front, there is much holding us
back. We will not be invited until we can prove we can be good
citizens, by having truly representative and responsible governments
that provide guaranteed equal rights and rule of fair law." She said
"Not in my lifetime, then." I said "I don't know. That depends on how
long you live, to begin with."
I said "But at the moment, there is something good waiting. Want to
see?" She said "Yes!" I said "Then follow me." I led her to another
room which had been unobserved when I ported some things into it. I
opened the door, and she was all wide eyed and open mouthed. An emerald
crystal formation as tall as she was, and the same for gem quality
variegated color tourmaline. I said "I know you like to include the
source in the description, but we can't do that with these." She
laughed. I said "One thing you will like to know, is that these are the
best of their kind I have ever found and kept as they are." She said
with feeling, "Thank you very much!" I said "You're welcome. I would
like my name on them, if they are displayed. I want that to show, when
the time comes, that connection to the other museums, even though I
might not be around to see it." She said "Now I understand more of your
plan. I have to think that's a good one." I looked around, and said,
"Well, you would." She laughed. She said "Tell me, are you known and
popular er, there?" I said "You guessed it. The answer is yes, and on
purpose." She said "I would think it would be more due to just who you
are." I said "So it has been said. Anyway, I have another gift for
you."
I took it out of my pocket. It was a gold and platinum museum ID
badge, with her name spelled in tiny gems. She tried to say wow, and
couldn't. I said "I'll say it for you. Wow!" She ignored that. I said
"It has some special properties. The back of it will stick to anything,
unless you pull it off with your bare fingers. It will not come off any
other way, even with other people's fingers. I didn't want you to have
to poke holes in your clothes." She said "You think of everything." I
said "I try. Lives, and our future can depend on that." She said "It's
exquisite." I said "You deserved something for the torture of last
time." She smiled and said, "I can't disagree with that. How this
invention, which happens to be in advance of that 'from', place, and
they are NOT getting my best er, works." She said, "Wow! I can't
disagree with that, either."
I said "One more thing. Give me a list of what you would like to
have. I will try to fulfill it. Something you should consider; I have
more to work with, and more ability than that Winston guy had, and it's
all my own work. Someday we should schedule a visit to my private
galleries, where I have other kinds of art, too." She said "Are they
er, far a way?" I said "Not in time. One is in DC. The other is in a
more unusual place. In a barren desert, actually. I like the isolation.
No pesky ordinances and inspections, so I could build what I wanted to,
for my house. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours for the whole
tour." She said "Wow! And interesting." I said "I sure hope so!" She
grinned and said, "I'll check my schedule." I said "I'm usually
available, except when I'm not. That didn't sound right. It's just that
when I'm not available, it's usually because of something serious and
unexpected which requires my personal presence. I supervise a lot of
goings on." She said "Yet you have time for all this?" I said "I can do
many things at once, and my supervision is mostly by remote. That still
leaves most of me to do other things, most of the time." She said
"You're full of wonders." I said "It's been said I'm full of a lot of
things, but one thing is what I love the most." I opened my arms, and
she came into them. I gave her my love.
When the hug was over, I said "Send me the list when you have it, and
when you would like to see my galleries. Till then, farewell." I walked
away while she was still in a happy daze. I ported, when it was clear,
to my house, thinking how nice my visit to the museum had been. That
inspired me to create a lot more art.
