Stephen's Secure Blog #77
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's 2018 and
later, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 13 in this story, in the Fall, after the start of year 4 of
his special school.

Harditch and Hoechess and came back into the ship's lounge to join
us. Hoechess looked satisfied, and Harditch didn't look like anything
in particular, but her emotions were of barely contained amusement. I
said to them, "Everything alright?" They both said yes. I said "Now we
will be going to our separate destinations. Hoechess first. Where would
you like to magically appear?" She said "You won't be landing?" I said
"Well, we didn't take off, and we don't want to keep the ship pinned
down on the planet when we don't need it there, accruing inflated port
fees. If we did need to land, we would want it at my house, and getting
permission for that might take a while. Time we don't need to waste. We
will port down and send the ship outsystem until we need it. So, where
would you like to be?" She smiled seductively, and said, "In the arms
of a lover." I said "Being so lovely, you must have them waiting in
line. But, porting so close to another person is too dangerous. I
recommend at least a meter away." She looked strange, and said, "My
office will be fine." I said "Ready?" She nodded and vanished.
Harditch and Rose burst into laugher. Rose explained, "You twisted
that one around, and her, so fast she had an attack of vertigo." I said
to Harditch, "Well, her feelings, and yours, when you came out, pretty
much told me some of what she said to you, so her statement wasn't a
complete surprise. You showed good control. She didn't know how you
felt, from what I saw. Well done." Harditch looked embarrassed and
said, "Thank you." I said "I assume she asked for periodic reports. If
you would like any help with that, ask any one of us." She said "Are
they all as good as you?" I said "Judge for yourself. Before I left the
ship to go get you, I asked Rose to tell me how I was going the manage
the situation, which I hadn't told anybody. What she said, is what
happened. Including your boss holding you back from helping me." She
looked at Rose in amazement and said, "Wow!" I said "She would have
done just what I did, just as well, and I probably should have asked
her to do it, but I selfishly wanted to have the fun, myself. Sorry
Rose." Rose grinned and said, "How can I complain about that, when you
put a complement in it?" I grinned back.
I said to Harditch, "We are now back in our home system, and docked
to a larger ship. We will port to Zichesshich now. That's right. We
didn't need to be in the ship at all for this mission. Our rage is
galaxy wide. It's better that our support people don't know all the
details of that." She said "Right. You trust me. Nobody ever has
before. I feel like I don't deserve it." I said "That's how it is with
people who deserve it." She said "Oh. Wise. I feel very odd. Like I
love you. Both of you." I said "For us, and who you've become, that's
normal. We love. It's a necessary part of our existence." She said "I
think I like it." We all grinned.
I said "Ready to port?" They were, and we ported to my house. I said
"Zander isn't ready for us at the moment. When he is, we'll go. Till
then, I thought you might like to see my house." We showed her around.
She loved the basement gym, but she didn't want to leave the gallery.
She kept whispering to herself, "He made all this?" After a few repeats
of that, I said, "Harditch, I can hear that." She looked surprised and
asked, "How?" I said "Very well, thank you. But really, I have a
possible dominant genetic mutation for extra sensitive hearing. It's
been in four generations of my family, that I know of. I tell people so
I don't invade their privacy." She said "Oh! Thank you." I said "Yes I
made all that, and others. First, I am love. Second, I am art." She
said "The evidence is indisputable. You made this house, too?" I said
"Yes. It's a copy, a little modified, of the Planetary President's
house. Well, it's the only one I had been in, so I duplicated it here."
She said "In the middle of nowhere?" I said "My construction methods
aren't compatible with regulations and inspections. And they shouldn't
be observed." She grinned and said, "Special, huh?" Rose laughed and
said, "He made the whole thing in an hour." I said "Well, I had to go
slow, to avoid creating a sandstorm. No, you won't be learning to do
something this large and complicated for a long time. Mental control of
invisible forcefields is VERY complicated at this level. It's even
beyond Rose's skill at this time. There are only two others who could
do something like this. Ichi and Percy, but Percy is only interested in
spaceships. Oh, and having sex. Including with your people." She tried
to say wow and laugh at the same time, and just looked like she was in
convulsions. After she recovered, she said accusingly at me, "You like
doing that!" I grinned and said, "Wouldn't you?" She said "Well, yes."
I said "Zander is available. Ready to port?" They were, so I ported
us to Zander's inner courtyard. I made the introductions, in a formal
way. Zander asked the teaching question of Harditch, and she responded
well. I said to Zander, "Ready to receive student information via push
transfer?" He said "Ready!" I gave it to him, and he took that large
amount, more than he ever did before, well. It contained all I knew
about Harditch and what had happened with us. I gave him a moment to
recover, and said, "Well done. You took it well." He said "Thank you.
Rose saw the fight? May I have a crystal of that?" I said to Rose,
"Want to try?" She said "I know the theory, but haven't tried since the
last boost in abilities. Yes." She ported a crystal to her hand and put
it to her forehead, and then she gave it to me. I said "VERY well done!
Pete couldn't have done better." She looked very embarrassed. Then she
said, "But you didn't look at it." I said "I did. Even before I was
fully psionic in this incarnation, and got back my memories, I could
read any crystal I happened to be in the room with, without being near
it. Pete and Tomba were a little surprised about that, when I told
them." She laughed and said "A little?" I said "Well, alright. More
than a little. A lot."
Harditch was looking back and forth at us, in surprise and wonder. I
said to her, "As you see, we are still learning. Always improving.
Don't worry about not understanding everything we are saying. You will,
and soon." I gave the crystal to Zander, and he read it, and said,
"Wow!" He said "Even while you were drinking." I said "Tasted good,
too." He laughed. I said "Would you like me to stay and witness the
first crystal?" He bowed and said, "I would be honored, Master
Teacher." I bowed in return. Zander explained what the first psionic
study crystal was to Harditch, including about the implanted
restrictions, and that I had them in me, too. She accept it, and it
accepted her, and then she said, "Wow!" We all grinned. I said "I made
a set of crystals for her, like I did for the other species." Then I
said, "I will be going. You know what to do if you need me for
through the entire house. Then I ported to my bedroom on Earth. I was
just in time for supper.
I told the family what I had been doing, and they all wanted to see
the fight. I remotely copied the crystal Rose made of it, and told them
that, and passed it around. There were a lot of favorable comments. Tim
said "Drinking usually leads to fighting. I hope you learned your
lesson." We laughed. Ichi said "Good job on the crystal." I said "Got
time tomorrow for some practice?" He grinned and said, "If I didn't
before, I sure do now." I grinned back at him. We all talked some more
in the living room after supper.
acted really surprised, and he poked me and we wrestled a little. He
said "I agree I should marry. Next year at the earliest. I haven't
dated, so I should do some of that so I can find a compatible mate. My
parents know some they want me to meet. I have a problem with that. I
would like a Japanese wife, and not just to please them. But I would
like an Adept I wouldn't have to hide things from, better. Any thoughts
on that?" I said "I agree with the choice of options, but what we like
to happen in this kind of thing, doesn't always turn out to be what we
find we want to happen. I fell in love with and married a regular
woman, and I didn't have to hide who I was from her. Actually, she
figured it all out when we were kids at summer camp. She died when our
son was 2 years old. My advice is not to put too many restrictions on
your search, because we can't really predict what will happen. Adapt to
Adept marriages do work. Tim and Mac show that. Adept and regular
marriages can work too, like mine and Chad's did. But as you know, most
Adepts don't risk any of that, and don't marry. I am very sorry for
what they don't have, but I have no right to judge them for their
individual choices. I want YOU to have the best of life that you choose
to experience, and be happy. I won't love you any less, whatever you
choose. And you know if you marry, I will love your wife." He said
after a kiss and a hug, "I know. I know, too, she will have to accept
our sharing of ourselves with other adepts." I said "And maybe join in,
too. Rod's wife didn't and doesn't, but the others did. We had a lot of
fun." He grinned and said, "Naturally!" Then he said, "One thing will
always be. My love for you." I said "Yes, love is our constant, in this
ever changing world." And we did a lot of exchanging of love, and some
great squirting, before sleeping in each other's arms.
