Stephen's Secure Blog #28
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's 2018 and
later, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 12 in this story, in the Summer just after year 2 of his
special school.

Back at Ichi's home in Japan, I said, "Because of some things which
have been happening, I should explain who we really are, and why we
are. Ichi and I are of a different society, which has it's own rules.
Like the rules of every society, they evolve to help us to live
together in as much harmony as possible. This is absolutely critical
for us, because we are people who can kill at a whim, with only a
thought. There is much more. We are naked to each other, in body and
feelings, because we sense those things automatically. In households
where there are only Adepts, we don't wear clothes. We can't hide
anything, so we don't bother to try. We don't have bad feelings about
each other, because they would come right back onto us. That means we
love each other, in a way only another Adept can understand. In our
homes, we never sleep alone, if we can avoid it. Sleeping in the arms
of somebody you love, and who loves and accepts all of who you are, is
the best possible way to live through the lonely darkness of the night
in loving peace. Even when not sleeping, we hug and kiss each other all
the time, and that works best when there isn't anything between our
bodies. Because of how our minds and abilities are, only our bodies
keep us human, and connected to regular people. For their sake, we NEED
to be as human as we can, so we can love and care for them, who would
murder us, or try to, as soon as they discovered what we can do."
I said "Because of all that, we have something in common with the
society here. Privacy is a very scarce commodity, but we all need to
have some, to maintain our identity, our sense of individual self. Your
society, because of the long isolation, and the very crowded living,
and how long the feudal system lasted into the machine age, as
reflected in your language, is full of suppressed resentment. This
hostility is concealed and suppressed by extreme politeness. To
Westerners, because you can't speak your mind openly and forcefully,
and instead you gently talk around even the most intense feelings you
want to express, you seem deceitful. Having such elaborate social
structures you need to maintain your society, the bold forthright way
Westerners express themselves in their open honesty, makes them look
like uncivilized barbarians to you. Neither way is wrong, except from
the other viewpoint. The social structure we Adapts have, is different
from both, but necessary for us to live and be sane. We speak the
absolute truth to each other, because we all can detect the slightest
lies. Where we don't want to offend, we just don't speak it at all. We
know not to press for an answer. Our politeness to each other is
necessarily different, and is arranged to generate as little
possibility as can be, for resentments to develop. Those of us who have
Adept powers, conceal them from those who have less or none, as much as
possible. It is taboo for us to inquire of others, information about
the abilities we have which sets us apart from our fellows, unless it
is required for our duties. This makes it a great honor for one to have
a special ability to be officially revealed to him. Ichi and I feel
this responsibility the most, because we have the most to reveal. So,
now you know why we don't like to talk about what we can do, and how
that became a part of our society. It embarrasses us, more than what
happened to those Junior Yakuza, and makes us fear our differences will
cause problems in others, in how they feel towards us, even if they
don't realize it. All through my last life, the reaction I received,
even from fellow Adepts and family, after I did something new and,
well, spectacular, made me cry like a baby, and I seriously considered
killing myself many times. I'm almost over that now, but I hope all
this helps you to understand something about us and who we are, as
people."
I said "Now for something different." I said with a grin, "As if all
that wasn't different enough. Our purpose. Everybody has to have at
least one. We do. We are the Guardians of Earth. We manage offworld
contact, and there are many. Part of that is helping aliens who need
assistance. The other thing we do is protect Earth from them, and us.
That's right. US. We don't interfere in world affairs. We help rescue
diplomats and other individuals, and offer some honesty detection
services to some governments for their employees, but that's all.
Except one little thing more. We are Adepts who follow the Path of The
Light. We do not treat or harm others unjustly. We can't, without
harming ourselves. Those who follow The Dark Path, don't have that
restriction. When we find one who is harming people, we stop him. When
we can, we just take away their powers. If they fight, we can kill them
if necessary. We have done this. If you want to ask why do we do these
things, I'll tell you. Because we can. We are the only ones who can,
therefore we must. Honor and duty demands it of us."
Ichi's father said, "Why aren't alien contacts made public?" I said
"The Galactic Council has made Earth a Restricted World. Earth is not
advanced enough to join them. Most alien contacts are by accident,
because they are not allowed to happen intentionally. We have to keep
them quiet. If the world knew about all that, before they are able to
defend themselves and their societies from the influences of very
advanced cultures and technologies, even knowing they exist for real,
it would cause a disaster, and millions, maybe billions, would die.
There are things I've invented which could, and probably would, destroy
the world in the wrong hands. We wouldn't survive that. All advancement
needs to come from WITHIN the society, and not from outside it, or that
society will be destroyed, instead of being allowed to evolve in it's
own unique way. We Guardians, because we are so advanced, even beyond
the rest of the galaxy, are not part of Earth's societies, so we should
not interfere with them. It isn't our right, and it isn't wise." He
said "It has been difficult for us to accept that you have lived and
remembered many lives. What you have just expressed makes it impossible
not to believe. I would bow to your wisdom, if I didn't now realize how
much pain that would cause you." I bowed and said, "Thank you honored
father of my closest friend, and my chosen brother."
I announced, "A teaching moment. Ichi, did you notice any similarity
in how your father said what he did, and how I spoke to Zander?" He
almost groaned, and his parents caught that and smiled. He said "Yes,
Master Teacher. You both said things you wanted to say, which you knew
the other didn't want to hear, in a way they could accept at the time,
and realize later what was really said. That worked really well on
Zander, but didn't work on you." I looked at his father, and he said to
Ichi, "You understand. I understand you are blessed with a great friend
and teacher." I said "There is more." I gave them all my love.
We took the train to visit the Buddhist Temple that had been planned
for that afternoon. When I found out where it was, I scouted the place
as usual. Then I alerted Ichi and Pete in contact, about what I found.
Then I said, +Ichi, if he runs when he detects our auras, let him leave
the Temple. Track him to a good spot and do what you need to do, and
port him back to bed. Pete and I will be backup if needed. I will
handle the Abbot and your family. Till then, no warning to them.+ Ichi
said, +Right. I'm ready.+ I said +I know you are. We'll stay in light
contact until it's all over.+ We got off the train and walked to the
Temple. When we were near the entrance, Ichi's target decided to run
out the back way. We walked inside, and were greeted by a Senior Monk
who could obviously see our auras. He led us to see the Abbot, who was
very old. He was a basic Adept. We bowed and sat together, and said
polite things. Then Ichi cried and hugged me tightly.
I said to the Abbot, "I am very sad that your inaction has caused my
brother so much distress, in repairing the situation. You loved
Tomachi, but that doesn't excuse what you let him do to people you
should have protected from him. In your heart, you long expected this
day to arrive in some future time. It has. Now. Tomachi's Third Eye is
closed now, permanently, and he can no longer steal energy from other
people, but he is not harmed in any other way. We do not punish. He ran
when he detected us, but was brought back. He is in his bed now,
asleep. You don't have much time left to improve your own Karma, but I
suggest you make a good effort, or this will very negatively influence
how your next life will be. We Guardians don't like to perform this
duty, but we must, for the good of all." The Abbot bowed to us very
deeply, and said to me, "Thank you for sparing him. I am shamed, but
you understand. With utmost respect, Master, thank you very much. May
Buddha bless you, and grant you and your brother just peace." We all
bowed, and then we left. We didn't talk until we got back to the house
and sat down. Then I explained what had happened. They were in shock. I
said "In my previous life, I had a brain injury when I was 15, and my
Third Eye was mostly closed for 45 years. Better than any of you, I
know what he lost. Ichi, almost as much. We suffer for him, but this
won't keep us from doing our charged duty again, as many times as we
are called to do it. Ichi is fortunate. In the past, we didn't have the
knowledge and techniques we have now. This former Adept can still think
and live a normal life. The Adepts I defeated, died, or were better
dead. This is Ichi's first time to perform this duty. He suffers for
it, but is not harmed, because he was just. He did well, and with great
moral courage. I am very proud of him. Now he needs our love." We all
hugged and kissed him, for a long time.
