Hi Insane
Yes this certainly can get very complicated, and it's easy to get
frustrated and give up.
Your stunnel problem you report is not a problem at all, what stunnel is
telling you is that it cannot connect to the port it is currently
configured to connect to.
(Incidentally Port connection conflicts was most probably the cause of
your problems in the thread message above)
There may be several reasons for this and for me to suggest a remedy
solving this, I would need to first know "What exactly you are trying to
do!
Are you trying to connect a newsreader to rout uploads and downloads to
your news service provider?
Are you trying to connect an email client to connect to and send /receive
emails to a web based email account via Tor network?
Are you trying to connect a web browser to rout a connection to the WWW
via tor ?
Are you trying to connect an ftp programme to rout via Tor from a
specified computer/server?
Remember Tor servers only accept encrypted connections,
The only reason for you to require stunnel is to generate a encrypted
connection into the tor server .
Let me assume that you want to connect your news client "newsleecher"
I am uncertain if this programme can be set to make a secure connection ?
I had a quick look at newsleachers home page and it left me none the
wiser.
Within its settings, look for Port 564 or 443 as setting options
If your news client does not have SSL connection capability then you need
stunnel if it does you probably do not need stunnel
If your news client does not support secure connection you will need
stunnel and also a programme called sockscap or another similar one
called free cap. But I really need to understand what you seek to do?
