Hi I4B.
I think I have to say this. I agree with Ronin. Some of our best
security experts have said a lot that we shouldn't go to any web site
that's posted in any group were it's known that people go to who might
have illegal porn on their computers. Cops aren't stupid. They see
these links just like we do, and they DO watch them. Sometimes they
even take them over. We should expect them to record all the IP
addresses of all who visit there, and any other information about the
visitors as possible for them to get.
Sure the site might not have anything illegal on it, but wouldn't a cop
expect that a lot of the traffic is from people who do have illegal
things from other places, and are maybe even doing illegal things to
kids, too? They can't get a warrant from what you do there, but that
won't stop them from tracking you, and everybody else. Information adds
up. It could take years, and often does, for them to piece a case
together to catch somebody.
Then there is the other side of the issue. Some cops post here. Some of
that has had web links, specifically to trap posters. Some very
security conscious people here could think that ANY poster who does
that might be a cop. Impersonations happen, too. I REALLY don't want
people to think that badly of you!
I think I might look a little selfish here when I say I don't want to
lose any of my few possible readers because of poor security practices.
I offer a suggestion. Instead of sharing a link, which might look and
be suspicious, how about sharing the pictures instead?
But not for me. I don't download anything from these groups, and I
don't go to any web sites posted here. My computers are clean. I'm too
much of a coward to jeopardize the great life I have now by doing
anything that could get me in trouble.
About Ronin. He's a genius. Probably one of the smartest people to ever
post here. A little odd, too, but that goes with the territory. He's a
good man. We should not ignore what he says, even if it's a little bit
of a problem to figure it out sometimes. I wonder what he might say
about that. Probably something interesting.
Take care and good luck.
(Next Stephen stories start a new life of a ten year old boy. A lot of
exciting adventures happen after the 13 introductory posts. Like going
all over the galaxy and messing with aliens! Oh, and summer camp, too.
And different cultures on Earth. And physical fun.)
