An RCA connection? As in composite video? That's 90s technology, and
"the camera and a laptop" is not mobile. You don't need software, you
need a modern camera. We have pocket cams now, like the little Flips,
that for <$100 record in 720p HD, store an hour or more onboard, and
offload to any computer later via a pop out USB connector. Your entire
"recording setup" doesn't even consume noticable space in a shirt
pocket.
You would very likely pay much more than that for an external capture
adaptor for a laptop, and you'd have to roll your recording setup
around in a shopping cart.
Just my thoughts.
