The Adventures of Stevie #139
These stories were told to me by friends and other people. Some of them
are true. Some of them are only partly true. Some of them should have
been true. LOL
My first post about Stevie ("Call me Stephen!") was when he was 12 and
in summer camp and was told by another camper. This was from a time
before computers would fit on a desk and when people communicated with
friends in other countries by actual letters sent through the postal
service. When children did this those friends were called "penpals".
Carlos is Stevie's penpal in Argentina and knows English. This is a
fictional contrivance to enable Stevie to tell us his stories because
he isn't here in person. I think.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Stevie's school is for gifted children who don't fit in regular schools.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stevie is 13 in this story, in the Fall of year 4 of school, a month
after story #138.
The Adventures of Stevie #139 "Huston, We Have a Problem"
Dear Carlos,
I was in my office at work, when Alice said I had a call from an
entry guard. I took it. "There is a man here who says he knows you,
name of Murphy." I said "Has he been given the usual warning?" The
guard said "Yes, and I have his gun." I said "Thanks. Please send him
up." I went out to Alice and said, "A man named Murphy is coming up.
Please have him wait out here until I ask him in, and hold my
appointments." I went back inside my office. Murphy did show up, and I
used my object sense all over him. As I expected, he had another gun.
And one thing more. A crystal. I pushed into his brain, like when I do
when I examine somebody's psychic abilities. There weren't any foreign
psychic attachments there, and his third eye was almost all the way
open. I was very gentle, so he didn't know I was in his brain. I stayed
there while I used the intercom to tell Alice, so Murphy would hear me,
too, "Alice, please have Murphy remove his other gun, and put it on the
floor. The crystal he has with him, too. And tell him he makes any move
I don't like, he dies instantly." I could feel him react to that, but
not as much as a normal person would, but being tough, and knowing me,
could explain that. He did those things, so I told Alice to send him
in.
Murphy came in, with his hands up. I said "Wait." Then I used the
intercom to tell Alice to contain the crystal. She knew what to do,
which was use plastic tongs to put it into an insulated container. I
said "Sit. Explain." He knew what I meant, and said, "Sorry about the
gun. I forgot it was there." I tilted my head and stared at him. He
said "Alright, I feel naked without a gun." I decided to ease the
tension a little, and said, "I like being naked. I live in a nudist
household. But you aren't here to discuss lifestyles." He said "I heard
you were working here, and knowing you, I felt only you would believe
me about a problem I discovered in the Huston office." I asked Alice to
get me the records of all the people assigned to the Huston office, and
all available pictures of the inside of the offices. Then I asked
Murphy to continue. He said "There is something wrong with the people
there. Their behavior is off, and they don't talk to each other. I was
authorized to ask for their help with my assignment, and they gave me
the runaround like that was the normal routine. I had been there
before, and it wasn't like that, then. One more thing I noticed. There
was a crystal on each desk. As you know, anything so out of the
ordinary, is suspect, so I brought one of them for you to look at,
because I suspect it might have something to do with the psychic, and
you know more about that than anybody else I know." I said "So that's
why you came here unofficially, so as not to alert any suspects who
might be watching for that. Good."
I said "Before we go any further, there is something I'm going to do.
You were warned everybody who comes into my office is subject to
physical and mental examination, and without warning. I've already
examined your body and brain. Now I'm going to use mind contact. If you
resist, you die." Then I did mind contact with him. He was not under
control or under the influence of hypnotic suggestion. He didn't detect
my contact. I cut it and said, "You pass, for now. Yes, I believe you,
but it might be the other way around. You might not believe ME, when I
tell you why. Ready?" He smiled and said "This is going to be
interesting!" I said "The reason for these precautions is I was
attacked by a crystal like the one you brought here, and almost killed.
If I hadn't taken precautions, we all would be in desperate trouble
now. The adept who us using them, is out to control this country, and
maybe the entire world." He said "Wow!" I grinned and said, "I hear
that a lot." He grinned back and said, "I'll bet!" I told him about
what we were doing about it, and why.
He said "Your abilities have grown." I said "So have yours. Your
third eye is almost all the way open. I might be able to help you
develop. I'm qualified to do that. But now, I need to know everything
you know about this problem. Speech is too slow, and doesn't show me
pictures. With your permission, we will do this mind to mind. No, I'm
not a telepath. This is entirely voluntary communication." He nodded,
and I made mindtalk contact, and he gave me everything he knew. I broke
the contact and said, "I would like to tell you more, and ask you to
help in the investigation, but there is a problem with security.
Somebody like me, and we should assume our enemy is at least as
powerful, can get any information he wants to, from an unprotected
mind. With your permission, I'm going to clean and align your energy
centers." He said "Chakras? Please." He laid down on the couch and I
did that. His third eye responded to me, but didn't open any further. I
suspected it wouldn't, for a long time, if ever. He sat up, and I said,
"I'm going to contact you mentally, but not so you will hear me. If you
can detect it, and push my mind out of yours, we can discuss more." I
did, and he detected me, and pushed me out violently. I said "Good. I
will be doing that from time to time while you are here, to give you
some necessary practice."
Alice brought in the files, and some pictures. I had interviewed the
agent in charge of the office, and some of his agents he supervised. I
could contact them mentally, but if I should, was the big question. I
could be detected. I called father at his office, and told him what he
should know. He said he would call the Director and arrange for a
strategy conference. I told Murphy about that. I contacted Chad, Rod,
and Jan, and briefed them. They all wanted in on the action. I told
them to wait a little, to decide what we will do. I asked Murphy,
"Before we go further, I need to know what you think you know about
me." He said some things which were way off the mark. I said "That's
not me. Soon you are going to meet some of the other people on my team.
To understand them and how we work, you need to know something about
them, and me. To start with, I'm not a biological adult. I'm 13. And a
half." He said "Wow!" I said "I hear that a lot." We both grinned. I
said "I'll explain. I'm a genius. A prodigy. I expect to have 3 of my
doctorates completed by the end of this school year. I go to a special
school for geniuses, which you know something about, and I teach there
too. Some of my fellow students are on my team. I'm the leader. We all
have some special talents and abilities beyond having stratospheric
IQs. Some are physical, or mental, or psychic. All of us are expert
fighters." He said, with certainty, "One of the things you teach." I
said, "Well, yes." I was sure he was remembering what I did to his
nose. We both grinned. I said "My student team members care about each
other VERY much. It goes beyond the physical and mental. To go against
one, even the littlest bit, is to go against all. Any insult to me, can
get somebody killed, so be careful. They wouldn't have stopped at your
nose. They know about that, but not that I fixed it. So if they stare
wonderingly at your face, you will know why. There is one more
important thing which you will discover, but wouldn't hurt to know in
advance. Any job I'm on, I'm the boss. Even the Director here knows
that, and cooperates. I take good advice seriously, but I rule the
action I'm involved in." He said "I already figured that out, boss." We
both smiled.
We had our meeting. The results are we are not going to do anything
about the Huston office for now, but watch it with agents which aren't
known to anybody working there. Murphy will be one of them. He will
report to father by phone, and use a card only in an emergency, and
only from the other side of the city from where the office is. They
will try very carefully to find out where the crystals are coming from,
and take as many pictures as they can of all the people who go near
that office. One reason for that is so we can compare faces with the
photographs we took of Victoria's drawings. That's the one advantage we
have the enemy adept can't equal. Of our Huston team, only Murphy knows
the real reason for what they are doing, which means he's in charge of
it, which is something he doesn't mind at all. Or the pay raise which
came with that promotion. He tried to thank me for it, but I said it
was due to his ability, not because of me. Then he said, "It IS because
of you. You made me a better person, who could qualify for and handle
this new job. I owe you a lot for that, for who I am now." I fingered
my nose and said, "Well, maybe." We both grinned. I hugged him, and
gave him my love. He said "Thank you." That meant a lot more to us than
the simple words usually do.
I'm keeping the crystal Murphy brought, in it's insulated container,
until I can work out how to examine it safely and without giving
anything away. My team is itching for action. We will scratch that when
it's time. Until then, I have lots of other interesting things to do.
Port-Alls, for instance. I'll tell you about that later.
Your friend,
Stephen
