The Adventures of Stevie #134
These stories were told to me by friends and other people. Some of them
are true. Some of them are only partly true. Some of them should have
been true. LOL
My first post about Stevie ("Call me Stephen!") was when he was 12 and
in summer camp and was told by another camper. This was from a time
before computers would fit on a desk and when people communicated with
friends in other countries by actual letters sent through the postal
service. When children did this those friends were called "penpals".
Carlos is Stevie's penpal in Argentina and knows English. This is a
fictional contrivance to enable Stevie to tell us his stories because
he isn't here in person. I think.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Stevie's school is for gifted children who don't fit in regular schools.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stevie is 13 in this story, after year 3 of summer camp, and before the
start of year 4 of school.
The Adventures of Stevie #134 "Tomba's Decision"
Dear Carlos,
I motioned to Chad, and said to Shan, in the Temple, "Can we be alone
for a while, in my apartment? Maybe we can see Tomba there, by himself,
after about an hour or so?" He said "I will see to it." Chad and I went
to my apartment, and the main bedroom, and flopped on the bed. I gently
and tenderly wiped his face with my sleeve, and kissed him. We hugged
for a while. I said "I'm so sorry. You must have been very frightened
for me, like I would have been for you. As it was, I didn't have time
to be frightened for myself, or I would have to change my underwear
now." He murmured against my cheek, "I'm glad you don't have to.
Really!" I said "Stupid clothes. They really do get too much between
people." I undressed, and so did he, then we hugged and kissed, with
love. That was all we did, skin to skin, in REAL togetherness, until
there was a knock at the door of the apartment. We got up to let Tomba
in.
He looked a little surprised. I said "Nudist, remember? We wanted to
hug, but didn't like clothes being in the way." He said "Should I?" I
said "That's up to you." He stripped, and we all hugged each other. He
sat between us on the couch. I asked him, "How are you feeling? What do
you think about things in general, and about the Temple?" He said "I'm
feeling the best I have in my entire life. It's so peaceful here. Even
the work, which is hard sometimes, is peaceful. I can't thank you both
enough for bringing me here." He kissed Chad and me, back and forth.
Then he said, "Chad! Your eye is open! I'm so happy for you." Then he
really smooched Chad all over, which Chad liked a lot. I grinned. Chad
pointed at me and said, "He did it. Give him some too." Tomba turned to
me, and did just that. I didn't mind. Then I said, "May I check your
progress?" He said "I would be honored, Master." I poked him, and said,
"None of that here, please." He said "Sorry. Habit." I pushed my mind
into his and looked at his abilities. There was a LOT of progress, and
I told him that. "You have done well here. Better than I hoped. I'm
very happy for you." He looked very pleased, and said, "Thank you. I
owe it all to you, both of you." Chad said "Not really. We do what we
want. It was just an accident we helped you. If you weren't there, and
we weren't there, it wouldn't have happened." Tomba looked confused for
a second, then grinned at us, and gave us more hugs and kisses.
I said, "Have you thought about your future?" Tomba said "Yes. It's
here." I said "Are you sure? You have enough money to set you up for
life. You could have almost anything you want. Here, you would have
nothing." He said "Here I would have everything I really need. I have
seen what great wealth can do to people, and absolute poverty, and
everything in between. I've lived that. Now I want something that means
more. I've found it here. Sometimes simple is better. I think you know
that, and might even be a little jealous of me." Chad said "Envious, is
more like it. I might try it next summer." I said "Sorry, but I have to
ask this. It's not just because of Lance?" He said "Lance is back with
his family. His summer of being a student monk is over. He will come
back to visit, but not make this his real home, like I want to. So you
see, it's not him. I really feel this is the right place for me, even
if it might mean I have lost him." I said "We will visit, too." Chad
said "It won't hurt your status to be a favorite of this Master." Tomba
said "That's already happened." I looked seriously at Tomba and said,
"I don't think you needed or will need it. You will go far, and earn
every bit of it. I know."
Suddenly I stood, and said in a sharp voice, "Chad! Look ahead! What
do you see?" His eyes looked into some faraway place, and he said to
the air in front of him, "When Stephen isn't Stephen, twice, Tomba will
be his provider." Then he looked around and said, "That was weird." I
said "Do you know what you said?" He said "Yes, I heard me speak it,
but from a distance. I don't know what it means, but it's true. I'm
absolutely sure of it." I said "I believe you. You have the talent."
Tomba said in an awed voice, "I believe you."
Chad said "I'm thirsty. Is there any cool-aid or fruit juice here?"
Tomba made to get up and said, "I'll go get some." Chad grabbed him
said "Oh no, you don't. You're not going anywhere while we still have
you. I'll get some water. Anybody else want some?" We did, and went
with him. We drank. I spilled some on my monster by accident. Tomba
tried to wipe it off. It woke up and knocked his hand away. Chad said
"Now look what you've done. He can't go out looking like a flagpole
searching for a flag." Tomba giggled. I thought it was funny too. Tomba
said "What can we DO about it?" Chad grabbed my monster, and dragged it
and me to the bedroom, and said to Tomba on the way, "Come on. I'm sure
we will think of something." They did. It involved a lot of fun things,
and some very happy squirting.
We rested in each other's arms. Tomba said, "It's been too long. I
love you both, and I really missed you. Please come again, and often."
Chad said "Which way did you mean?" Tomba said "Yes." We all grinned. I
said "We will try."
Tomba is staying at the Temple, and will become a full monk in the
religion. Probably an adept, too. He has the potential. I'm very happy
for him. He deserves, more than most, to have a good life from now on.
He will keep his money in a trust account, for future emergencies. I
think maybe he took Chad's prophesy a little too seriously, but I
didn't ask him. Father is investigating where that crystal came from.
We will compare notes tomorrow. Chad has mixed emotions about that. I'm
going to give him some comfort now, before bed. It's for me, too.
Your friend,
Stephen
