The Adventures of Stevie #133
These stories were told to me by friends and other people. Some of them
are true. Some of them are only partly true. Some of them should have
been true. LOL
My first post about Stevie ("Call me Stephen!") was when he was 12 and
in summer camp and was told by another camper. This was from a time
before computers would fit on a desk and when people communicated with
friends in other countries by actual letters sent through the postal
service. When children did this those friends were called "penpals".
Carlos is Stevie's penpal in Argentina and knows English. This is a
fictional contrivance to enable Stevie to tell us his stories because
he isn't here in person. I think.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Stevie's school is for gifted children who don't fit in regular schools.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stevie is 13 in this story, after year 3 of summer camp, and before the
start of year 4 of school.
The Adventures of Stevie #133 "Hit in the Temple?"
Dear Carlos,
Chad and I got up early, so we could start working. That didn't mean
we didn't take a little time for some quick squirting. It's good for a
boy's health, right? We made our own breakfast, and got on the bus to
go to the Temple. I recognized some people from before and said hi to
them. The professor was there, and I said "Hi, professor. Meet Chad. We
go to school together." Chad said "Hi, professor. Sometimes we go
separately." I said, not to be outdone, "We sit in separate chairs,
too." He said "But together on the couch." I said "Couched in those
terms, we get along." He said "Even though we're short." The professor
said "But that's not a nice way to treat good fruit." That got a laugh
from an assortment of people. The professor said, "I'm pleased to meet
you, Chad. You two must lead interesting lives." Chad said "That
depends on what you think is interesting. We do have a lot more fun
than you would want to know about, but you don't get something for
nothing." I said "Yes, we have our share of troubles as well, in equal
proportion and intensity." The professor said "I would assume so. Your
burdens must be enormous." Chad said "Stephen's is. You should have
seen his girlfriend when she saw it for the first time." I said "Chad,
it wasn't that bad. Although I was afraid she would drown in the pool
that time. She couldn't stop looking at it under the water."
The professor said "Boys! Please. I can hardly think, with you doing
that." I grinned at him. He said "I suppose that was the point." Chad
said "We DO have fun, when we can." I said "With people like you, who
are smart enough to understand something of who we are." The professor
said "I'm honored, and flattered. I can't imagine what kind of school
you go to." Chad said "We imagine, then we make it happen." I said "We
study what we want to. Our only problem is books are so slow. Paper
cuts are NO fun. Oh, we have to get off now. Sorry. See you later.
Bye!"
On our way into the Temple, Chad said, "That was fun. He's nice." I
said "Yes. Too bad we can't be more open with him. He would just get
more confused." Chad said sadly, "Yes." We bowed to the monk on
greeting duty, and went to the our usual meeting room. Shan would join
us when he was available. Chad and I just sat and hugged. After a while
Shan came in, with a bundle. First we did the polite things, which
included butter tea. Chad said "I'm beginning to like this tea." Shan
smiled and said "I'll see you get the recipe." Chad said "Thank you."
We told him about summer camp, and he told us about some of his recent
famous visitors. Then he said to Chad, "There is something different
about you. I am pleased at your awakening.' Chad got a little
embarrassed and said, "Thank you. Stephen is a very good teacher.
Anything you can do to help me, I would appreciate very much." Shan
said "May I examine you?" Chad said "Yes, please." It happened in a
second, and Shan said to me, "You have taken inventory?" I said "Yes.
That time displacement is interesting. The rest is above average for
his age, and I expect some development." Shan said "I concur. Chad, you
do indeed have an excellent teacher." I got red with embarrassment, and
Chad grinned and hugged me.
Shan said to me, "You have progressed, significantly. Is there
anything you can share?" I said "There might be, but I still have some
experiments to design and do. Combining ancient and modern sciences is
complicated, but I'm determined to understand how it all works. Dr.
Einstein never did succeed in formulating his Unified Field Theory. I
think I might have some of what was missing from his thinking. Your
description of our transporting started it." Chad said "Wow! Einstein!
Wow!" I poked him. He just grinned at me.
I said to Shan, "I told my father he should not have brought here
anything made by an adept we haven't stopped. This Temple would be the
first place he would be watching, for somebody to discover him. He
won't do it again. He should have waited for me to examine it where it
was found. Do you have it here?" He did, and was about to unwrap it. I
said "Please wait. Shielded room." We went there, and then he unwrapped
it. The crystal immediately jumped up and flew at my head. I ported
sideways, and it came around to target me again. I grabbed it with 4th
dimension fingers, and pushed my mind into it. Then I disintegrated it
into a find powder, which I let drop to the floor. Chad started to say
something, but I held up my hand and then pointed to my head. They knew
What that meant. 5 minutes later, I looked up and said, "It was after
ME. Not my father, and not anybody in the Temple, but specifically me.
The previous crystal must have reported back enough of my
characteristics before it was destroyed, to let the adept put in the
new crystal enough information for it to recognize me, and kill me. I
got enough information from it before I fixed it, so I know how it
works now. I learned a lot, and can make one much better. My concern is
how much did he learn about me from the other crystal, and was this one
his best effort. That was from a true Master Adept."
Chad broke down and cried. I hugged him. Shan looked upset too. He
shielded room, he would know a lot more about me now. And I was wrong
about wanting to examine it where it was found. I underestimated him,
because I didn't know what he did with it could be done. Shan, he could
have targeted YOU, if he wanted to. There is no way of knowing how much
that previous thing reported back to him about me, and this one did
about you. I don't want to lose you either of you!" I cried and hugged
him. I said "I have to warn father." I contacted him and said,
"Emergency notice! If you hear about any more crystals in secure
places, don't go near them. Not even in the same room. They can kill
specified individuals, automatically when in range. We are dealing with
a murdering Master Adapt. I'll tell you more after more research.
Discom." I said "I just told him not to go into the same room with any
he finds."
Shan said "You teleported. Instantly. Without an aid." I said with a
smile. "You noticed. I discovered my object sense can substitute for an
aid, and with Chad's help, I set up a mental system which makes the
process automatic, and now I found out, reflexive. Chad's object sense
isn't good enough to do it, even with an aid. Yet. It's not really
useful if you are under mental attack, because you could draw your
attacker with you, and make more trouble for yourself. It's possible an
adept could follow the trace, too. These are reasons for more
experiments, before I do much more with this ability. There is
something you can do to help, right now. Please examine my object
sense, and compare it with others. We need to know if this can be
taught to other people." He did, and said, "Your ability appears to be
unique in it's degree of resolution. You can perceive finer detail, and
at greater distances, than anyone else I know of." I said, "That's
probably being watched, now. That might alert the wrong person, about
what we are thinking about. We need to know who it is. We don't know
enough to even begin to search for him. So, the next move is his. I
hope we will be ready for it." He said "I understand."
I will tell you more about that Temple visit in the next letter.
Your friend,
Stephen
