I met Doc in Atlanta -- running late, as usual! We had wanted to get
something to eat -- but settled for grabbing cokes since I had been so
late in getting there and then rushed to the church -- Doc was a
little disappointed in me because I didn't notice the qt's in the
Wal-Greens, but I had been driving 360 miles south during the hot part
of the day in a car with no functional air conditioner or vent! I was
very close to heat exhaustion by the time I got there! The coke and
Doc's air-conditioned car got me back to a normal temperature!
We had pretty good seats, but we were a little off to one side. I was
disappointed that they would not allow photography during the show,
but I'm not sure I would have gotten terribly good shots with that
piece of crap Vivitar of mine! The thing must have been on half the
day since the batteries were dead later when I went to take pictures
of the boys downstairs -- so I had to get thru the line to find a
place to change my batteries and then go back and get pictures, and
since I was trying to take pictures between the people in line to meet
the boys -- they didn't turn out so well. I did get a good picture of
Cassius -- the newest Libera and Luke Collins and even Freddie Ingles
show up just beyond him. And my picture of Joshua, Benedict and Liam
turned out pretty well. The two pics I tried to get of Kavanna both
turned out horrible as did the photo of Jakob. Josh is still a very
handsome young man, but I believe that Jakob may have surpassed him in
the just-down-right beautiful category! Well, he and Ben -- who has
not changed a bit in the many years he's been with Libera. I mean, you
could get lost in Ben's dimples except the brightness of his smile
would always show you the way out!
During the concert, various boys introduced songs -- usually every
other song. Ben really stood out -- I mean, he came forward and
exploded with personality as he told the story of being in Japan when
Mt Fujiyama erupted! Although he appears very laid back -- he was
energy personified! He was back to laid back at the autograph session.
Freddie did two intros and was also very popular. He led the others in
a demonstration of how they all were singing different notes at the
same time so "you can't just copy the boy next to you." Cassius did
the final intro, pointing out that the trademark song Libera was
written before he and Freddie were born and that the next song, based
on Chopin's Prelude in C# minor, was actually written before any of
them had been born!
I was on an incredibly high afterwards. I'm usually in pain (and I did
have my knee brace on under my clothes), but I wasn't feeling ANY kind
of pain at that point. I wasn't sure that I would be able to go to
sleep! Not for the first time, someone (DOC!) pointed out how
different I am when I work with boys -- and there was no way for me to
deny it!
love,
