Security is a risk/benefit problem.
The more security needed the harder it is to execute the needed steps. Many
encryption programs are a bit tricky to use and having only one method of
deterrence is probably not enough. So spoofing IP addresses, encryption,
etc. etc. is all part of the work in ensuring sufficient security. 100%
simply is not assured.
The other factor is the benefit of posting v. the threat of being threatened,
accosted or otherwise engaged by LEA (Law Enforcement Authorities). The
chances of this happening and the vigor of LEA efforts vary widely across
geographic locations, but in much of western Europe and North America (and
some other places as well) there is a zero tolerance level for any posting
even remotely prurient....the pressure from the religious right (who think
masturbation is a sin) is strong and the tendency of politicians to kick
those who they know will not kick them back is too much.
And the downside in most of these places......is huge.
So there has to be a wide margin of "gray area" and one should be careful.
