The Adventures of Stevie #40
These stories were told to me by friends and other people. Some of them
are true. Some of them are only partly true. Some of them should have
been true. LOL
My first post about Stevie ("Call me Stephen!") was when he was 12 and
in summer camp and was told by another camper. This was from a time
before computers would fit on a desk and when people communicated with
friends in other countries by actual letters sent through the postal
service. When children did this those friends were called "penpals".
Carlos is Stevie's penpal in Argentina and knows English. This is a
fictional contrivance to enable Stevie to tell us his stories because
he isn't here in person. I think.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Stevie's school is for gifted children who don't fit in regular schools.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stevie is 12 in this story. It is Spring of year 2 of his special
school.
The Adventures of Stevie #40 "New Digs"
Dear Carlos,
Staying with Jeremy is very interesting. That's what is called an
understatement. Ha ha.
He lives with a married woman and man who's kids are all grown up.
They know my father. Zack was with him in the war. He said my father
saved his life and almost died doing it. When he told me that, we were
were talking at our first supper together, I said "I'm very glad to
know you are alive." He looked at me in a strange way. I said real fast
,"I mean, I'm very glad you didn't die. I mean I'm happy you are here
so I can know you." It was like I was sinking into the quicksand I just
made. Then I looked up at Jeremy next to me, and pleaded "Help!" He
laughed and squeezed my shoulder, and said to them, "Please excuse
Stephen. His super genius brain is a little shook up from his accident,
and the trouble at home. He's a really nice kid who has a different
sense of humor, who knows so much it sometimes gets a little mixed up
on the way to his mouth and out, and I love him, just like almost
everybody else does." I said to Jeremy in a loud whisper so they could
all hear, "Jeremy?" He whispered loudly back to me, "Yes, Stephen?" I
whispered loudly back, "I think you should know for the next time,
'help' doesn't mean the same as 'please embarrass me so much I want to
melt into any crack in the floor I can find.'" Everybody laughed, and
it was alright.
I have to say something about Jeremy. I'm a genius, and I can do some
things other people can't do. I can't help that. It doesn't make me
more special than anybody else is, because we are all people. I think
the really extra special people are the people who help people to like
other people and themselves. Jeremy is one of those. He isn't a genius,
but he does things no genius can ever do. He is so real and kind,
people love him, and I don't know how, and I think he doesn't either,
he automatically says just the right things to make bad situations and
hurt people better. It's his special gift. I think that's the most
special gift of all, right next to the gift he gives me of being my
closest friend. I said all that to Zack and Glena, and the two girls
who were living with them, when Jeremy was in the bathroom so I
wouldn't embarrass him. They looked at me with a lot of respect after
that. I think some love, too.
After Jeremy came back, I asked him about his sister. I said "How is
she? What does she look like now? Is she more pretty than when I saw
her last?" He said "Fine, beautiful, yes." and laughed. I said "I want
to see her when she visits you. Does she look as good as Debbie? I
explained to them who Debbie was. Jeremy smiled a little sideways and
said "Hey, did you forget? I'm not the kind of guy you should be asking
about that kind of thing." I said "Oh!" Then I looked all around the
floor and said "Anybody spot a good sized crack in the floor for me?
I'm ready for it now." Everybody laughed. The girls came over and
hugged me. That was so nice, I said "Crack in the floor?" to them
again, and held out my arms to them expectantly. They laughed again,
because they knew what I was asking for, and hugged me again. I think
whoever invents a permanent hug will be very rich.
Then the other kids went away so Zack and Glena could tell me the
house rules. Most were normal like cleaning and other chores, but some
were new and different, like the clothing optional rule. We didn't have
to wear clothes in the private areas of the house. That went for
private guests, too, if they agreed. That was very interesting. They
did want us to keep the furniture clean, so if we had bare buts, we
should sit on a towel. They are naturists. Called nudists by outsiders.
I didn't mind. I don't care who sees me, if they don't stare and make
fun. They said that is against the rules. Good. I told them I had seen
all kinds of naked bodies in art class and in camp. I told them "I
prefer to wear my tight briefs most of the time, because loose parts
moving around distracts me, and that sometimes makes some extra
hardness I don't need to have so much of, unless I need a place to hang
a towel." They smiled at that, and said fine. I think they were pleased
I could talk with them normally about it. The other interesting rule is
we had to help cook. I told them I like that and I really wanted to
learn. They looked pleased at that. We could use the telephone when we
liked, but not for too long because other people might want to use it.
There is only one bathroom, so we had to be quick in it, so no
masturbating in it. If I want to do that, it should be in my bedroom I
share with Jeremy, and only if it doesn't bother him. Bother him? Ha!
That was funny! The rule about homework isn't for me. I don't get
grades. The last rule was about sex. I couldn't do it there. I was too
young. I told them I agreed, and besides, I was so big I would split
anybody wide open if I tried to stick it in them, if they were near my
age. I said too that "I only just thought about masturbating, and tried
it yesterday. Is it okay if I ask Jeremy to help me learn how to do it?
He likes helping people, and he loves me, and I trust him with my
life." They looked at each other, and nodded, and said it was okay, but
only if he agrees to it. I shouldn't push it. They said "Don't be
concerned. We value privacy here. Doors are not locked, not even the
bathroom door, but we knock and wait for an answer before we try to
enter."
Then they said there is a problem. They didn't have time to get out
the extra bed from storage. I could sleep on the couch if I wanted to.
I said "Can I sleep with Jeremy? I had to share my bed with him before
when his family stayed with us for a week." They said "Are you sure? If
Jeremy doesn't mind." I said "He didn't mind before, and I have a whole
lot to talk to him about. It's a good thing he doesn't have school
tomorrow. There is one more reason why I want to sleep with him. Has he
ever hugged you?" Glena said yes. I said "Then you know." Zack didn't,
so I told him slowly and softly, like I was remembering a beautiful
dream, "Jeremy doesn't just have a lot of love to give, he IS love.
When he hugs you, you know for that time, you are the absolute center
of his universe. No one exists for him but you. You are his reason for
living. If you were lonely and hurting, you are not anymore. When his
arms are around you, you are safe from all the bad in the world. It's
not sexual, if you are not looking for that, it's pure honest tender
love. I really want that. I need it. Tonight. Jeremy knows it. He would
feel as bad as me if he couldn't give it to me. Now you know." By then,
we all had tears flowing down our faces, even Zack.
It was time for bed. I went into the waiting arms of tender healing
love.
Your friend,
Stephen
