Hi Cosmos,
sorry to intrude your discussion (thank you for your post by the way!),
but Xnews DOES have SSL capability. I am in fact using it right now,
connected to SSL.astraweb
In order to have it run, you need Stunnel, a small free application.
Stunnel also serves as a gateway for PowerPost2000 to SSL.Astraweb
