Hope all is well with you.
Interesting points you raise. As many people who respond you will
probably have as many differing opinions.
Sadly the environment we live in does not cater for individual opinion
or what seems logically right or wrong - we are all subject to the
legal system of wherever we choose to call home, and as we all know,
in many respects the law is an ass.
I think the interesting debate is possibly around gender - several
observations about male/male Vs male/female - hopefully individual
opinions and not those informed by the hate-mongers in the press.
It is fair to say in the UK, woman who have any sexual contact with
under 16's, gender irrespective, are treated VERY differently to a
male in similar circumstances. A man who has a relationship with an
under 16 female will be an abuser and a rapist etc., etc., the papers
are full of it - worse still if it is male / male, however consensual,
whatever the circumstances, the man in question will rightly fear for
his life - the judicial system is punative to say the least - and the
bias towards making the individual a 'beast' who cannot fir back into
society is on every page of the judicial handbook. How obtuse this
seems when you consider most circuit judges were a few years ago
buggering schoolboys at Eton!
As I said, I believe you'll have many differing responses, each to
their own bias - but at the end of the day (god I hate that phrase) we
are managed by the law and the law will stipulate the ages and
circumstances, and there is nothing anyone can do about that - until
the judiciary wake-up and smell the coffee!
