It is quite refreshing to have civil discourse with fellow friends
here. My understanding, which may indeed be flawed, is that the use
of quotations around a particular term imply that it is not so, or
quite the opposite. Hence, if you state that Jimmy sat beside a boy
who was "gay"--in my mind that implies that the boy was perhaps not
gay at all, but perhaps was assumed to be so because of manner of
dress, deportment or movement. I have always interpreted a troll's
use of the quotations around the term Boylover ("Boylover") as
implying that the person is not a lover, but an abuser or hater. I
recognise this interpretation may be my own peculiarity, and not
shared at all by others.
