Good ideas!
But why not a combination of both?
Start with a big budget "Dragonflight" movie.
Movie comes out in the summer...
Follow with a TV series (or mini/maxi series) that tell the story of
Menolly and the Harper Hall.
Then maybe at the same time or second season do stories from the first
fall or Moreta's ride, etc.
Second summer do the big budget "Dragonquest"
Etc.
(I always wondered why Paramount never thought of doing a "Star Trek"
mini-series along these lines.)
