No need to have an ugly dog to appreciate Whatchweyrs! :)) I always
considered those as misunderstood creatures. All along the books, we saw hey
were not useless but rather badly used. A lot of knowledge about them seems
to have disappeared between the first and the second Pass. Although not
pleasant to look at, they are definitively sensitive beings.
And after reading "Dragonsblood", can't you see how important they were
until Dragons were fully in charge of Pern's defense? They could have been
Pernese last chance to survive ;)
