I think it's more how the material is used, and which materials became more
available as what the colonists brought with them dwindled down to
non-existance. And, I think I remember this from my 8th or 9th grade FCS
class, but fashions do change over the years. Do you see too many women
these days wearing hoop skirts?
And you can always make a simple shirt by sewing two pieces of cloth
together at the sides and just leaving holes for the arms(might be a bit
cold during the winter though :)). Pants might be a bit more complicated,
but I hope that sort of proves my point. :)
