No.
I did NOT like MHoP very much.
For all the knowledge that was lost in the early books to have that much
knowledge of the past still available in Robinton's past, who was still
alive at the time of "lost" knowledge never made much sense to me.
His relationship with the girl was Ok and very sad when she died but
somehow the rest of his love life was kind of out of place, not just the
part you mention.
I liked him way better in ALL the other books.
