It is about a struggeling minehold, and is centered around the son of a
miner. They have a watchwher, which is used in the coalmine. There is some
talk about watchwhers, which in this book is much more versatile than
earlier suggested. There are some jarring scenes though. When all the
children are at the harper's cottage for their teaching sessions, there is a
cave-in in the mine, with several people killed. It only fills a few pages.
There is no feeling of disaster. The aftermaths are quickly glossed over. It
is just a vehicle to set the main characters up for recieving a new
watchwher egg.
All in all: Not one of the gems of the series. Nevertheless - I'm happy that
I bought it.
