Yes. Get whatever your support person in your area can help you with.
New computer users need a helper, and it stands to reason that they
should get what their helper recommends.

If you can afford it, get a new computer from a major brand name maker,
such as Dell or Apple, so you can have a good warranty and official
help with it.
If you have a real techie friend, you could get a perfectly good used
one, from a place like www.surpluscomputers.com , VERY cheaply. He
could then set it up for you with all the software you need, which can
actually be downloaded from the newsgroups.  :-)
