It is now possible to play wmv3 files using Quicktime:
A new product called Flip4Mac WMV is used. It requires OS 10.3 or higher and
Quicktime 7 or higher. A second program called Flip4Mac WMX can prepare wmv3
(and other) files for Final Cut Pro.
The program can be purchased for $9.99 or a trial version can be downloaded
and played indefinitely...the trial version only will play the first half of
the movie. For more information see:

The wmv3 movie must be complete and is opened as wmv3. Quicktime will then
open and play it. I tried it on two wmv3 file movies and it worked fine on
both.
