There are three possible workarounds, to play them in OS X, sort of.
First off, there is NO way to play them directly OS X. There is no
codec for it, and the current owner of it has no intention of making
one.
You could boot into Classic OS 9, and use Quicktime to play it, with
the codecs you can get for that from Apple's web site. Or I could post
them. That is, if your computer CAN boot into OS 9.
You could try to use the Classic Quicktime player, in the Classic
environment in OS X, when you have the codecs installed in the Classic
Extensions Folder. If you actually have Classic installed.
You could use a PC emulator, such as Virtual PC, to run Windoze and
then play them. KH would like me to say that Win98 would be the best
choice for this. :-)
This would require lots of hard drive space, and lots of RAM.
In all three of those situations, you could also try to convert the
poor quality AVIs to even worse quality mpegs, that are four times the
original video's sizes. :-)
