This one is correct. Almost.....
In your JAS installation folder, right click on jas.exe, select
Properties, and click on the Version tab. You'll see some interesting
info under Comments, as well as the "politically correct" full name
under Product name.
You'd also do well to click the About tab in JAS and read the
"Universal Disclaimer." It covers a wide range of legalities affecting
your use of the program.
Singularity is a geek with a seriously warped sense of humor... ;oP
JAS was invented / developed during the "grand old days," when abmb
was *the* movie group. Singularity was a master programmer, and also a
downloader of movies. He hated Master Splitter (as most eveyone did),
and decided to invent a *better* joiner/splitter, and one specifically
tweaked for doing movies.
It turned into a group project, in which feedback from everyone
resulted in "new and improved" versions on almost a daily basis for a
while. I was on the "debugging team."
The result was JAS. In its finished form (which wasn't really
finished) it stood as the ultimate. In the six years since, it's
become virtually the world standard. And per Singularity's intentions,
it was, is, and shall always be, FREE.
And BTW, the version number has nothing to do with numbers. They
represent letters of the alphabet. IIRC, the first version was
2.15.25...
