Qwerk, thanks for all the vids you post. There is another solution to vids that
would have over 1000 parts. That is to split them in large splits (say 4MB
each), then set the maximum number of lines per post on PP to be that of the
size of each part you want to post. This way PP splits each parts into a multi
part message and it's transparent to most newsreaders. I've done it once, on a
long movie, used JAS to split it into 300 parts and set PP to a line count that
produces a multi part file size below 800K. I think the line count was 4,000 but
not sure. You can calculate it using a post from any vid posted, just divide the
vid part size in bytes by the number of lines your news reader indicates is in
the part. This gives you a number you can use to approximate what file size you
want your multi part files to be.
I know this sounds complicated, but it really is easy to do. Just an alternative
to the strange way JAS numbers files above 1000 parts.
BTW: It was another poster who clued me in about this way of doing large
postings. I don't off hand remember his name, but I give him credit for the
idea.
