Fortunately today the medical profession can do a lot more to heal foot
injuries that used to turn to gangrene and loss of the limb. When my
wound wasn't healing the surgeon sent me to the hospital wound care
department. They cleaned it up, cut out some dead tissue and packed
it with a paste, did this twice a week for 4 weeks. By then the wound
had almost closed up. Took another couple of weeks but it finally
healed. The problem that persisted was the redness and scaling.
Went to a dermatoligist who said I had stasis dermatitis caused by
the swelling and blood vessels leaking fluid that irritates the skin and
causes the rash. A cream applied twice daily is curing that.
None of this was around 50-60 years ago, if you were a diabetic
and got a foot injury there was little the medical profession could do
except amputate the limb.
So if you have foot problems hike on over to the doctor, there's things
that they can do to cure them.
