I got a letter from Frank yesterday and thought I'd mention some of what he
said, here.
To correct an idea I (and I think others) got from a previous report: The
judge who retired was NOT the trial judge. The judge who retired was Judge
Hodges. He was the was the magistrste. He makes the rulings on motions and
other extraneous matters. The trial judge is Judge Sands. He is the one who
will make the verdict. Frank says his lawyer advises that it will be a
while before the verdict comes down. Maybe as long as three years or
posssibly even longer. They do have a motion in for more freedom which is
unopposed by the prosecution but no word on that yet. He really hopes to
get the on line restrictions eased so he can come to groups and discuss
things with his friends. That would not include tha case but other things
in his life, like getting old, and other topics he used to talk about with
us.
Frank is unable to comment on the case itself but really wishes that all of
us could read the actual trial transcript so we would know what went on.
T%he final argument of his lawyer only gives some idea of what went on.
His relationship with his wife is the thing that saddens him the most. It
is up and down he says. She is still not living with him. For a while he
saw her at least once a week tom take her to Church and maybe twice more.
Then nothing for a while and now once every week or two. He is still madly
in love with her and misses her greatly. He even said that the only
possible punishment from the case that worries him is the possibilty that
he will never see her again.
Financially he is just barely getting by. He mentioned some of what he was
doing and it sounds as if he is keeping busy.
I'm sure he appreciates calls and letters from his friends.
I guess that's about it. Just thought some of you might like to know.
