It really sounds horrible to have to "respect" this entity of one or two in
any way. This group was anyone's group by default. My rule would be that if
you do not use a group then you lose it.
I think you are dealing with one possibly two dorks of advanced age,
remembering their glory years where the meek banded together and force fed
the usenet this illusion of a distructive power, using grandiose sounding
nics and email names and Audie Murphy style attacks. Sort of like a Dr Doom
game that got out of hand. Playing this game gave them their badly needed
kryptonite that was unattainable in real life.
I think we should see this person for what he or she really is. A tired old
fool trying to recapture an old dynamic and to give in to his funny rhetoric
and verbal attacks would only refuel his tank for another assult in another
time for another silly reason. I say this is an excellent opportunity to
laugh and ignore a dying old toothless horse taking it's last gasp. I think
being a troll takes a lot of energy, time, and resourses. Being an
anti-troll only requires a few entries into the kill filter and a few clicks
of the mouse to render them inconsequential.
All this talk about making deals is just a bunch of sillyness. Am I supposed
to envision a group of men boarding aircraft to fly to secret meetings where
in dark and hushed rooms men of worldly significance shake hands and barter
deals? Totally, totally laughable.
Even this discussion about what to do about "them" is a turn-on for the
troll. I'll tell you what I'm doing...laughing.
