It ^is^ odd. But you anticipated the "arrival" of what you called
the "post description spammer" back in August (your LT post). So
something has changed since then and you've either caused that
change or have come to know of that change - since then.

Perhaps you now moderate this group. That's a long shot though
because I don't even know if it is possible to moderate NGs anymore
because Usenet is a dying pig which is spastically grasping mud and
offal in its death throes. Even so, moderation would involve first
consent of the users (vote never requested) and then emailing all
posts to you as gatekeeper (doesn't happen). But on the same line
LEA could be moderator without a vote by power of LEA warrant.
Unlikely because in your case Astraweb is in a different
jurisdiction to the US even though it has farms all over the place.
Singaporeans are unlikely to kiss American ass where the matter is
not even a significant crime in Singaporean jurisdiction.
But you seem to be on to something. Any decision by spammers to
"leave spiderhacker alone" either has been made since you posted in
August (5 months) or was made well before but you only thought
about it or became aware of it since August. Your point is a point
well made but I'm unsure about the cause, if any, and the
ramifications, if any. I'm not sure it's even anything but random.
Spammers have no guilt no conscience no sensitivities - and no fear
of prosecution, TOS loss of posting priveliges or fear of
consequences. They are psychopathic in nature when you get down to
it. The type of material posted here and many other places over
the last couple of years won't scare them in the least. And they
haven't been arrested because they still post on many other groups
and they are generally low hanging fruit. Outside of external
control which is infinitesimally possible I therefore can't think
of what has made them decide to leave this group alone.
So what ^do^ you think is the reason they've left this group alone?
