Apologies for parsing your post Batman but you are quite right of
course and yes I got it as well :) For those who don't know, google
The!Checker or what it became widely known as, PicCheck.
Unfortunately many of the csv's are pretty old and care must be
taken and they can be hard to locate as well. But it sure beats
manually constructing collection folders especially the really big
collections like BD and Vlad. I've never searched for csv's on
Binsearch or its cognates but if anyone wants to try, the best
collection of csv's was that by Count Draculol - search for the
string CD_*** (for instance, for LD it would be CD_LD). PicCheck
does a CRC32 file hash of each file and checks that against the csv
which contains all the file hashes and names of the original files
with original metadata. Priceless piece of software.

Excellent! And I agree that Highwinds are basically no good. I
recall they shut down peering at least to Astra some time back
which was entirely unprofessional and contrary to the spirit of
usenet - it caused major complaints about lack of propogation which
would then be blamed on Astra etc and which was a dirty tactic used
by base people of low moral compass. The true spirit of usenet
exists in NSP's such as Astra and the majority of the independent
European farms.
