I think the first three episodes of series 7 should have been the first
three of series 6. Episode 2 (Beatrix Potter) was bumped to make way for
the budget and, according to The Times online archive, the other two
weren't broadcast when the Radio Times said. The result is that series 6
has 3 episodes and series 7 has 9 while every other series has 6.
How you number them (recording date vs broadcast date) is up to you.
