I was intrigued to hear "Bad Habits", the debut CD of Knighthood, the new rock band from Britain, for two reasons: honestly, the cover art caught my interest, but essentially it is the new band Singer Frank Knight (ex - Wild Knight, X-Wild) and man of the backing vocals of Accept, UDO, Jorn and many others, and he's very good guitarist Paul Curtis, former Gypsy, Balance of Power, and many Faithealer more.
Frank and Paul met each other by chance at a concert in Cumbria, North-West England, in 2011. It soon became apparent that they had a similar musical history, mutual contacts and they shared stories of life on the road, especially in Europe.
By the end of the second meeting had not only written a song together, but that they had a finished mix. This triggered a frenzy of writing on common ground in musical tastes made ??for a comfortable and quick writing together. To complete the line-up they recruited drummer John Powney and super-energized Luis Antonio Gutarra for bass.
From the first riff, I knew this would be a good album. Boldly, small lascivious "Bad Habits", brings to mind all sorts of evil, this is a showcase of what seems true retro rock.
The music is guitar knighthood hard driving classic British hard rock full of influences from the likes of Bad Company, Deep Purple, AC / DC, Thin Lizzy, etc. But his sound is ultimately upgraded, especially in the treatment of rhythm section that sounds strong and very modern.
Voice of Frank Knight is just pure rock 'n roll, raspy sometimes, and with a feeling of classic blues as the guitar sound Paul Curtis is the standard old school, but his riffs and solos cut like a knife.
The title track has hooks from the start, with an array of fatty killer riffs, even before the song is explosive. Curtis wields his guitar like an ancient gladiator makes his sword, which works with six strings is the goddess to produce a sound that will shiver your hair on the back of your neck.
This little bawdy song then takes you to the great pace "Frightman" where you can hear Frank open a beer, take a sip, then jumps off a truly magical song of rock 'n blues. This track has quality, starting with a slow steady stripping the drum beat and constant interspersed with some great riffs down, and then everything is mixed back up again with the guitar work of Paul.
So we have something different with "Crying To The Moon, "a song a little slower, but not without it's chorus heavy pounding on drums to your speakers. . This is certainly a band song, great lyrics and easy to sing along fans
"Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is" is the kind of classic hard rock you like the first audition: shades of Texas with ZZ Top for mega blasting riffs of AC / DC. Australian
One of the most effective tracks on the album is called "Xcellerator". I heard them say that the opening riff can sometimes make or break a song. A true classic opening to a great song, with all the arrogance.
Scheduled to be released on December 1, 2014, "Bad Habits". It's really well composed, performed and produced, but above all it's fun.
Rock of Knighthood in the classic form, and Knight / Curtis knows how to do it.
