Dear Banjo Enthusiast,
This album is full of the tunes that many people request every evening here at Mickie Finn's in San Diego.
Oklahoma, Carmen and the Student Prince medley were arrangements that I worked up with "Willy" Erickson. He and I were the first piano banjo team to work at the original Shakey's Pizza Parlor in Sacramento, California.
The interest effect in Lara's Theme and Yesterday was produced by over-dubbing the banjo one time. Those are the only times wehre the banjo was recorded in that manner.
Dick Lopez is the talented drummer on this album. He's a regular in our band. The very fine bass player is Stormy Gormley. He was a member of the band when we appeared on the N.B.C. television show.
When I first came to work at Mickie Finn's in 1961, Fred Finn had trouble pronouncing my name (it rhymes with "Malta") and knowing that I was from Holland he tagged me "The Flying Dutchman."

Recorded at Fanfare Recording Studio in El Cajon, Calif. using the latest solid state multi-track tape recorders. Banjo was recorded with a Neumann U-87 microphone.
