Thank you for the explanation. I used to have a supervisor that would put
an entire abbreviated tasker in the subject of an email. He then wondered
why it was interpreted differently by different people. I'm pretty sure
that he wasn't a denizen of Usenet, but you never know.
It's fascinating how these things get started and what their effect on
perceived vs. intended communication is, which is why I called it more of
a sociological question.
I guess technology has made it more expedient to attempt communication,
but not everyone takes the time to ensure their message is adequately
understood. Again... quite fascinating.
