I suppose the good news is that now you know.
Three year retention is terrible by today's standards. As you also
probably know, the actual limiting factor here is disk space, and
that's now relatively dirt cheap.
In their defense, Usenet participation has shrunk to a tiny, tiny part
of what it used to be, so there's not much money to be made any more
in the business of being a provider, and this doesn't make much of a
case for investing even more money into the business.
I don't have any real recommendations. I use one service to download
from and another to upload to. In the former case, I want long
retention and in the latter, no record logs (Yes, I use a VPN, but I
still feel better leaving no trail behind).
I use giganews and astraweb, respectively.
A good way to check around for what's best for you would be to Google
"usenet comparison" or just try
https://www.techradar.com/news/the-best-usenet-providers
Let me know if I can be of any more assistance,
Spidey
