I was born in the early thirties and remember hearing these songs
playing on the old Majestic radio. I also heard them on the old
Gramophone which used a common needle to play the 78s. You also had to
wind it up with the handle on the side.
A great movie with much of this type of music is Steve Martin's
"Pennies From Heaven". It captures the era extremely well.
