I had attempted to buy tickets for the AC/DC show in Dallas during the initial on-sale in December and was completely shut out.
I'd been monitoring Ticketmaster and Stubhub in hopes of scoring a last minute deal. On the day of the show, the unused production seats were sporadically listed on Ticketmaster.com at face value. Unfortunately, scalpers beat me to the punch several times! They relisted tickets originally made available a few hours before showtime on StubHub at up to a 500% markup! However, at 4:45PM I was able to score a single lower level aisle seat 22 rows up, adjacent to Angus' riser in the middle of the floor. This turned out to be a prime taping location as the hanging loudspeakers were just to my left and the disability accessible seats were on an elevated platform directly behind me, so I had no one screaming in my ear all night long...
The only downside of the night was the fact that I had to scramble to get my gear together at 5:00PM. Up until to this point, I believed I had no chance of seeing AC/DC. Before leaving my home, I put what I thought were "FRESH" NIHM rechargable batteries into my PCM-10. Unfortunately, the battery indicator on my recorder tormented me all night long. During first few minutes of the opening band: Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown, the indicator dropped from 100% to 50%, so I didn't tape them. The indicator then dropped to 25% during the first few minutes of AC/DC. I spent almost the whole show fretting over my PCM-M10's power supply issue. Once I made it to "Let There Be Rock", I was able to relax for the rest of the concert, as the battery indicator usually starts flashing when there are only 30-60 minutes of life left.
Thankfully, my trusty PCM-M10 captured the entire AC/DC performance! In fact, it still had enough power to transfer the master files the following morning.It should be known that the faulty power indicator of the PCM-M10 detracted from the amount of FUN I had, quite a bit!!
There were no obnoxious screamers around me.
Although, you will hear the guy next to me clapping and howling from time to time.
There are also minor phasing issues as I had an aisle seat and was required to let people pass during the concert.
I did my part and remained as silent as possible while recording.
AC/DC delivered the best concert of 2016, by far!!
Even without the iconic Malcom Young and longtime drummer Phill Rudd, the band performed at the top of their game.
Angus Young and Brian Johnson pulled out all of the stops and kept the Dallas faithful mesmerized with their bag of tricks!
Cliff Williams laid down a solid groove which kept fans shaking in their boots for two solid hours.
I am glad that Chris Slade has rejoined AC/DC for the Rock Or Bust tour.
At 69 years old, the man is still a beast behind the kit!
It's hard to believe that Brian, Cliff, and Chris, are around the same age as my beloved mother, who retired six years ago!
