Well, that is the point. Conversion between audio formats does become easier when starting with a consistant master. When introducing non-standard (hybrid) formats, mixing down becomes time consuming and tedious. Easy of use I say, standard formatting without lending to one decoder I say, and you save time not having to remix a mux. Anyway, I think that they shoud rename this group...
