Handel - Concerti Grossi Opus 6 (Beznosiuk,AvisonEns,10) SACDRip to 2444 - Poster's Note.txt
Source: Losssless Classical (in the form of 3 SACD ISOs)
Label: Linn
Date: 2010
Performers: The Avison Ensemble; Pavlo Beznosiuk
Processing: Complicated because SACD DSD ( I always comvert DSD to PCM). Using Foobar, rip 2 channel version to separate tracks at 24bit 44KHz, gain +5 in this instance (DSD at 0 Dbfs = -6 Dbfs PCM, but DSD can go up to 6 DB beyond 0; the guidelines recommend +3 Db max but some SACDs exceed this). The short clicks at track boundaries were removed using an automation in Adobe Audition (extremely short fade in / fade out to not harm any of the actual music). Slightly bumped up the gain on all tracks by +0.8 Db in Audition so the highest peak was between -0.2 and -0.3 Dbfs. Restored all the metadata to the saved Audition flacs using Mp3Tag (select source tracks, right click, tag copy, select destination tracks, tag paste). Metadata tweaks & additions.
If you don't what I said above understand the above procedure, don't worry. Files are ready to play, and will sound fine if you wish to convert to a smaller format for a portable device (I recommend you use traingular dithering or a good noise shaped dither like Izotope RX has when dropping the quality to 16 bit; dithering helps preserve more of the dynamic range beyond -96 Dbfs). DbPowerAmp on Windows is the easiest solution for mass conversions with good quality output.
