Thanks for the info and your interest.
Seems it was a problem I've never had although it has been solved. The
computer I use for downloading has a cheap but adequate DAC and some
decent powered speakers. This was where I sampled the download from.
To my surprise when I played the files through the *big* system they
sounded great.
Lo and behold a reboot solved my problem. Never had that happen
before. Sorry for the PAnIc...
Window$ indeed.
