Retention is how long a newsgroup provider says that if anything ever
posted on my server I will keep a copy of it for 10 years as I have the
machinery set up if you post it means nothing to me to keep a copy. But
in order to look at other newsgroup providers I must point my machine at
your machine and then find what was posted in the last 30 days or so. If
your machine does not talk correctly to my machine I may not get
everything posted to your machine on my machine. Astraweb had two people
running Astraweb - and every Sunday what was posted on Astraweb would not
be posted until Monday. A substantial amount of material was never
correctly posted but within Astraweb it was fully there but not until
Monday
