| On my news reader, I click on the "Tools" menu then select "Newsgroup Directory",,, |

from the window that opens up there, I can update the list of
newsgroups that my news server carries & also use a search feature to
easily search the list of newsgroups for specific topics.
That search feature is completely different than the "Find" button I
would use to search for keywords in message headers.
Also, the "Help" button on my program's menu has all kinds of info on
how to use the program, from setting it up, to a searchable index,
contents, a "Getting Started" section & a few other great helpful
topics. Of course you have to take the time to read the info first.
When I first start learing how to use a new program, I seldom know
what words to search for in the program's help index so I cheat a
little & click on the menu buttons & see what topics are under each
one. I usually use those topics to search for. Eventually, you start
to understand what each feature does & how & when it's used.
These programs all have a lot of features so don't expect to learn it
all in a day, or a week, or a month. It takes time. You don't need
every feature all at once. I learn about each one as I need them.
I've been using the same program for years & I know there are still
some features I know nothing about because I haven't needed to learn
about them yet. Plus I'm a slow learner. LOL
Knowing how to use your news reader can make life on usenet a lot more
fun & a hell of lot more productive.
OK, I have to get back to my Christmas shopping. Ta-ta for now.
