You will notice that I am beginning to post again in an avi container.
I am still usimg x264 to encode with - just not placing the video in an
mp4 container. I have decided to do this after going back in time in
Usenet and downloading some of my earlier material.
I usually include enough par files to repair a video. But lets say the
video is a multi-segment video of 4 parts to each segment. If part 2 is
bad then the entire segment does not get downloaded. Lets just say that
throughout the entire 16 segments this is repeated.
You end up with do segments at all. Using Xvid though you can download
the entore post as a text file. It will skip the bad part but save 3
segments in this example from the entire post for each segment. I use
yEnc as a matter of fact in posting now - so I just load up my text file
into yenc32 decoder and it will decode the text file.
Now pars might be of use. But if not you use HJsplit and it will
happily join segments of different sizes without complaining. You now
have an avi file that will not play - but if part one segment one did
make it through - you have a broken avi file with a header.
DivFix will repair.
No simple tools exist for mp4 containers - so I am turning back to avi
containers.
BTW - if I did not encode in yEnc do exactly as above but decode the
text file with VuePrint - then follow rest of procedure.
