If by PTP you mean peer-to-peer, then any serverless messaging system
would seem to fall into that. I don't know if that's *just* a PTP.
The layout on disk would be a folder named 'Freenet', for instance,
that contains the application and encrypted datastore. No other
folders on the system are accessed unless you care to upload, or
'insert', a file into the ether. Then you browse to that folder like
you would do with any other software. Downloading is similiar. Most
would designate an output, or dowload, folder to finally hold the
requested, assembled files. You move them to your archives yourself
from there. Freenet is typically left running as long as the system
is on - preferably on a second desktop or in a virtual machine.
As I said in the previous message, the datastore - consisting of a
handful of special purpose files in the folder - would contain
encrypted messages (files and text are distributed via messages) from
all over the world. You don't view them or access them in that form.
You view a page using a browser, or download a file using the built-in
browser manager or an advanced application download/upload manager.
Those applications receive the page or file from the encrypted
datastore which is in constant flux.
This is part of the dark web of which people speak, since it's not
accessible from normal http port 80 browsing. And used over the
world for legitimate purposes. Also fun.
You can use default mode which is anonymous but open to anyone, or you
can use connections to friends - people you know - which is faster and
more *secure* since only your friends see you, BUT, is never
recommended since as soon as one of your friends is compromised,
everyone in your friend group is compromised. So, just use the
openpeer, default settings.
