A machine gun troop has halted in a main street in the heart of
Stalingrad. One of the soldiers can clearly be seen holding a captured
map probably of the city. Although this area of Stalingrad had been
captured, moving through it was still perilous. A great many of the
approaches into the city were still heavily mined and snipers would
often lay in wait for the unwary.
